Broken Door Handle Piece
Well I was getting out of my crossfire one day and the door handle goes slack and just limps there. I haven't been able to open my door for the past three weeks and the dealership said I have to replace the door panel for $1,000. Which is completely ridiculous considering the fact that I took the handle out and found that the little plastic piece that holds the door release rod broke and that part only costs probably 50 cents to make. Anyone know what this is called and where I can buy it myself?
I already searched the forum and it seems like no one finally came up with a conclusion. Help is greatly appreciated

So does that rod slip into the plastic piece, but being broke it's not holding the rod in place? I'd be about tempted to wrap a zip tie around the rod and then around the handle part to hold it in place as at least a temporary fix.
Yeah I was some what thinking the same thing. But I would definitely like to know what the part is and just get it replaced and be done with it. I live in Las Vegas and that zip tie would dry out within 2 weeks

Did some looking and don't see anything that details that part.
Looks like door panel replacement (ouch).. or get creative. About the only other option I could give you would be these guys.
LKQ
They seem to deal in quite a few Crossfire parts.
Got to thinking old school.. carb linkages that had a retainer..rod slipped through and it "rolled" down and clipped to the rod. Might take the rod and parts to a local auto supply when they aren't busy and see if someone would take some time with you. Here's another avenue..

I have an extra door panel. But it is the passenger side. Not sure if it would help you get the part or not. From what I remember it was the same on both sides. Not sure if it can reverse though.
I have seen this part when I took off the panel and remember that I put the panel back without connecting it up again, a senior moment.
Why can't you use a piece of steel wire and wire the gold colored hook on the cable to the hole that the plastic part came out of.
I have studied my pictures of it and it does seem feasible to me.
I'll add some pictures. No luck adding pictures the normal way but it did work adding them as attachments.
