My key stopped working today. It won't turn. The steering wheel isn't locked. I tried my backup key and it won't turn the lock/unlock ignition cylinder too. I think the assembly has failed. Has anyone experienced this issue, and if so, please tell me I can replace something that doesn't require new(very expensive) keys. Thanks in advance!

Anytime mine gets stuck I turn it back to the left take it all the way out then try it again, that always seems to fix it

 

You are in the "FORUM TROUBLESHOOTING" section.

Go to TSBs and How-To Articles, the second sticky thread is on "Sticky Ignition Key". All you need are a few basic tools and about 1 1/2 hours of time to fix this and you are set for the life of the car.

Or, go to a dealership and have the lock replaced for around $500 and the problem will come back in about three years.
