Default Painting the center stack

Well, I've gone the DiNoc route with vinyl carbon fiber and while it looked OK, the interference with the top and window switches (not even mentioning the non-resetting HAZARD pushbutton!), made me decide to remove the overlay vinyl. I'm going to paint all of the previously silver console parts. (River of Silver).
The question is: what color?

If you'll notice in my sig, I have a Blaze Red roadster/single-tone charcoal interior.

While I may or may not follow the answer, I would like the opinions of my fellow members.

I feel I can provide an automotive-quality finish.

If you vote, please explain your reasoning?

Please respond as if it were your own car? Thanks.

I would go the metallic, but not too shiny. I had shiny in the '04 and I think it would show scratches to easily.
The dark grey would look a bit dull I think.
The red would look too cheap and garish.
That's my opinion for what it's worth, which is not even two cents really.

I've always liked body color match... with a few fragments of black in the seats... the body color match is totally out of the "eye" norm...Carl

Well Max, I've always liked your CF overlay. I also like the OEM silver. I definitely would not repeat the red as it will stick out like a sore thumb (there is no other red on the interior and agree with 180). I would choose a color that matches or compliments the other grays on the interior. That's my vote.

I voted Charcoal for your car because I agree with what others have said about the red sticking out like a sore thumb. It would be way too bright for what the interior has going on already.
On my car, being blue, i think body color would fit in quite well and not stick out being that it is a much more subdued color to begin with.

You could always try painting it in carbon fiber style. I have seen patterns that are used to create the effect at local paint shops. If you like the look, but didnt like the fit of the film it may be an option for you.

MikeR did aero blue to match his exterior. After I saw it, I liked it. I don't think I would paint my roadster's interior black to match it, but red isn't as dark... It would bring out the interior...but maybe too much. There may be some gallery photos of Mike's car left somewhere... to get an idea. It's your choice buddy...you will make it nice either way...

I also feel the red would be to much. A darker grey metallic seems more in line with a high end european interior. Something that looks less like the faux aluminum stock finish, and more like burnished nickel would be classy.

you guys need to live a little... color match it, brighten up that monotone interior!

OR, if you liked the Carbon Fiber, why not go for hydro graphics so they can get all the nooks and crannies?

I think color matching would make it look dated. That is what they did on the old PT cruisers almost 15 years ago. I never liked the trend in any case.
The charcoal sounds nice, but I think it would blend in too much with the rest of your interior.
So, I voted dark silver, even though I am not a fan of silver in interiors.

Maybe a piano black, or some other color would work even better.

BTW, I am in the same boat. My/our car is a blaze red coupe and I hate the silver river. I was thinking carbon wrap, but maybe that is not a good choice if you are having issues with yours?

I went with the Red and Black Carbon Fiber...the 33 piece covers the center stack, around the steering wheel and the arch above the gauges .Also the area around the door handles is covered. My interior is light/dark grey and I think the Carbon Fiber looks great...great price and easy installation...Carl

Whaile i've taken things apart-I've looked closely at the DINOC material. When you wrap-you stretch. Quite a bit, thought, surprisingly, it does not seem to distort the pattern. Strange.

The adhesive would seal a submarine-very difficult to remove. Oh, well-forge ahead.

I'l try a couple of plastic-safe solvents tomorrow. Turpentine works for 3M spray adhesive. Pray for me?

Even stretched nearly to the point of tearing-it's still thick enough to interfere with the clearance in the switches/bezels. And I mean thin-.0015" thin. Friggin' Germans.

It looks like paint or hydro are the only real options.

Carl, I looked down that road in 2007. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't live with the exposed edges of silver. They look pretty, but just not for me, buddy. Thanks for the suggestion.
