Dash help please
Being ever so careful removing the headliner today, I still managed to put a scratch on the dash trim. It already had some imperfections but now it needs attention. It can make it look new where it is, but I would rather remove the trim piece to paint.
The part in question is #6 just above the cluster. Must I remove the cluster? or will it just snap out of place? I figured someone here that has had the cluster out could tell me how this trim is fastened.
Thanks, James

How deeply is it gouged? I think Plasti-Dip would be a perfect fix for it.
I *believe* it just snaps out of place... but I would feel more comfy making that statement if someone could try it on a salvage unit first... Would hate for you to break a clip on an obsolete piece

James, I did the same thing and thought I could remove it. I found mine was glued to the dash pad and I was afraid I would make a mess of it trying to remove it because it is very thin. I refinished mine in the car (once I put the headliner back in, took about an hour to mask everything carefully including the new headliner) with Vinyl Dye/Paint - Product Details - Parasol Inc. they matched the colour and texture perfectly. I agree with John, the Plastidip should work, just not sure if it comes in a colour match. Good luck!

Actually I did have a towel on that part. The sharp corner still made it's way through the towel and into the plastic.
Thanks to John and Steve for the advice.
