Great idea, I am V busy right now, but I will contribute here, I currently own 2 SLK R170's one with M113 V8, the other undergoing resto then will get V8 or maybe just sold as V6 to fund a Crossfire
So no Crossfire yet, but I am seriously considering it !!

I'll try and post some stuff up ASAP once I've finished a Belt job on a Range Rover L322 4.4TDV8 ................ You don't wanna know how much of the front end has to be removed just to change 2 belts a tensioner and a few Idlers ARRRRRRRRRRRGH

Cheers,

Good to see you over here, Dave! For those who don't know Dave, he owns a shop in Scotland, and has forgotten more about our platform than most of us will ever know!

I think this 'new forum area' may be an idea whose time came a long time ago. I predict it might end up being it's own section with subforums before you know it.

I’m new I have a 2001 R170 SLK 320, this car was a spur of the moment purchase a deal I couldn’t afford to pass on, really clean inside and out some surface rust no biggie, and a gear select lock out which I thought I could handle with no issues I paid 1500 bucks it runs and drives with the screw driver trick.

i bought a shifter off eBay and waited 2 weeks for it to arrive and then to compare the two find it’s the wrong part and then it took 3 months to get my cash back, so I’ve gone all summer without the car, it’s registered and inspected and insured but now it’s apart and I can’t drive it.

im 62 and disabled but I’m pretty decent with general mechanical skills, and used to be a bone yard rat 20 years ago when pick apart was a thing, I want to improve whatever I can and get a little more out of a car that nobody in MB land says is possible but I’m pretty sure it can be done and that’s why I’m here

any help regarding swapping parts would be greatly appreciated, I’m not looking to drift drag race or anything but I would like to know that a accord isn’t going to blow my doors off at the light
