I saw a nice silver coupe with vanity plate "KROSFIRE" at the new Plymouth public library around 11:45 today. Does that belong to anyone here? Nice parking job by the way...at the end of a row on the passenger side of the car next to you.

I also saw (and heard ) a black SRT-6 coupe southbound on Vicksburg Ln around noon. Sweet!

Not mine. I take mine to work on nice days. I'm always on Cty Rd 6 to 101 to 394 into St. Louis Pk. Mines parked across from the Post Office on Louisiana and 27th St. S. I've probably seen radmanly around Plymouth!

If you've seen an Aero Blue SRT-6 roadster driving just a little too fast, you have!

Hey Radmanly - did I see you at the corner of Cty Rd 6 and 101 on Monday morning at about 6:30? I was going west on 6, and I saw an aero blue roadster going east. I don't think it was speeding, though, so it might have been someone else!

Default Local Repair Story

My check engine light came on at 28000 miles. I debated buying an obd2 code reader or having a dealer check things out. I opted for the dealer...my mistake. I know my way around cars pretty well but the electronics can be difficult without the obd3 set up Mercedes and Chrysler use. Barnett Chrysler in White Bear Lake always has a few Crossfires for sale and appears to specialize in selling them so i assumed they could also service them. Again...my mistake. After waiting a couple of hours I was told the code was P0100 which covers the mass air flow system including the sensor. They said they checked the wiring and finaly zeroed in on the MAF sensor. They said " we couldn't find much info here and had to call Germany to figure out the code. ( Maybe I should have brought my shop manuals.) A new MAF sensor would have to be ordered from, you guessed it, Germany for somehwere north of $600 which, including installation ( a 10 minute job at most )would cost about $880. I asked if they tried cleaning it and was told it can't be done. I asked if they could go down the street to Mercedes and pick one up. "not the same, the Crossfire is a combo of Chrysler and Mercedes and the MAF sensor can only be got from Germany" is what I was told. I left with a $131 bill for the code read and ordered a new Bosch MAF sensor from autohausaz.com for $171. I stopped at Maplewood Mercedes Porsche and orderd new seals for the MAF unit and asked their service advisor if they ever work on Crossfires. I"d heard Mercedes dealers didn't like to have a mere Chrysler in their service bays but that wasn't the case. He said they've worked on them occasionaly and it was not problem to bring them there. I'm going out to buy an obd2 code reader which will read the basic codes, just not everything the obd3 can read, and learn as much as I can about the car. I thought I'd pass along my experiance to other Minnesota Crossfire folks. It appears many Chrysler dealers have washed their hands of this car and it may be a mistake to bring one there. Mercedes dealers may be a better choice and, price wise, may even be a little cheaper.

I'm sorry to hear you got such lousy service from Barnett. I bought my SRT-6 from them. I haven't taken the car there for service. I go to Luther Brookdale because it's much closer and they've been good. Then again, I haven't had any issues requiring a code read.

I bought my Limited from Sears BMW/Mercedes and they definitely did not want to see it again.

As Karmann is kaput, I wonder who Barnett was contacting in Germany.

yeah, I bought mine from Barnett too. I've been taking mine for general service to Dokmo Ford/Chrysler in Northfield and they've been fine with it, just like a normal car to them. they did the oli change for 7 bucks when I brought my own oil and filter, and while they were under there changed the steering damper since it was already on the rack. I'll use them again, and they made it out that the XF was just another fun little Chrysler to drive.

I haven't had mine up on stands yet, it's just kind of a bit of a PITA. That little bitty space under it is just getting too hard to deal with as I get older-not worth the trouble.

Barnett's "we had to call Germany" answer is especially lame when you consider that there's a code index in the back of the service manual. Do they not have a copy?!?

Someone should tell them to check out the CrossfireForum!

Don't send them here! I don't know if I could handle all the new "How does this work", "How do you do this" and "I'm having this problem" threads the techs would post. LOL I'd have to put a macro on my keyboard for UTSB (Use the search button) to handle all the new threads!

I have never liked Barnett Chrysler. Go down the road to White Bear Dodge. Ask for Dave Peterson. He is a great mechanic and the only one I trust to work on my SRT6 and Jeep. He was at Suburban Chrylser before Chrylser consolidated dealerships.

FYI: I have heard rumors that Barnett and White Bear Dodge are combining, and they will be moving all Chrysler operations to White Bear Dodge. They are retaining all the White Bear Dodge mechanics which is a good thing.

Haven't even taken my SRT out of storage yet...I am starting to get anxious since I usually take it out after tax season, but its been nothing but bad weather since I got back home last week. Well, maybe next week will be better!!!

Mine's out of storage but has yet to see the outside of my garage. There's no point if it's too cold to put the top down.

Well i am having my 30,000 miles service on my limited roadster on thursday at Burnett. I hope i have a better experience. The reason i am going to Burnett is that i know the certified mechanic (Tony) there for crossfire. He helped me last time with a problem with changing the front light (you know that problem with the pin// he had to attach it again). Tony has been very helpful with this and spent about half an hour on fixing/reattaching the pin with a mirror. also Tony seems to know the crossfires very well from my conversation with him.

You know those ***** in the center of the dash just above the radio? Those turn on the heat and make it blow out of whatever vent you want it to. LOL too cold? Are you sure you're a Minnesotan. Pretty much had the top down every day with the car out. 40* is fine, wear a warm jacket and crank up the heat. Oh, and if that's not enough, throw on a stocking cap and enjoy people looking at you like you're insane. LOL
