Nice of you to offer these. Especially given the lean times.
Me, I'm good on tires but someone ought to pick these up.

Meanwhile,

Merry Christmas

A good tiime today.

Six cars and four of them were Red.

A new member joins in and we say a sad goodbye to old friends
Gregg and Terrisa, your companionship will be missed.
One less red xfire. Will the group be the same?

Yes, because Dave brings a new red roadster, vanilla seats and everything.

Balance is restored.

St Albains was great and Labadie was a hoot.
See you guys again in June.

Yes, nice drive today, thanks Sean.

As to our Greg and Terrisa, yes it is a sad day...but gives us yet another reason to go to the Dragon at least once a year.

Dave fits in just nicely with the group...almost thought he'd been with us all along.

3rd Drive: Yes, this is a weekend trip
(Ruth is still checking to make sure this is a canoe vice float trip)

Title:Canoe Trip
When:Fri Aug 17 1pm – Sun Aug 19, 2012 5pm (CDT)
Where: Dawt Mill

Meet at the McDonalds at Hwy 44 and 141, no later than 1:00pm. We will drive to Dawt Mill in Tecumseh, MO.

You can call 888-884-3298 to reserve your room. There are currently three more rooms reserved under "Ruth Zerface". They are Standard rooms at the Cotton Gin which will sleep four (queen bed and either a trundle bed or sofa sleeper) for $119 a night.

Saturday we have reservations for a canoe trip at 10:00am. They will take us on a short 15 minute drive to the drop off location and it takes about 5 hours to get back. You can purchase a sack lunch for $10 and the cost of a canoe and drop off is $48.20 for two people. There are also three more canoe's reserved. Please make your reservations as soon as possible. If we use up the ones reserved, I can call to try to add more. Rooms and canoes that are not reserved by August 1, I will need to release back to them.
Dawt Mill - enjoy the Ozarks finest fishing, canoeing, camping and lodging

After this third one, we will be going to the Fall Dragon and outside of maybe meeting up for a weekend lunch or dinner, we're not planning anymore drives. That said, we would love to see a number of us from the Gateway Crossfire Group attend. This year we are not going to do our normal week leading up to the Dragon since Gary changed the dates so Kimpossible could attend...we opted to see her vice a week in the area.

If you don't know what the Dragon is, go to the 6th Annual Fall 2012 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 5, 6, 7 .

August 22nd canoe trip sounds wonderful. Tecumseh is rght near our Hippie Ridge Ranch. Half the roads down there are gravel.

We may be there in a pickup.
But

We will be there

Smile Hi there!

Hello!

I've just become a new Crossfire owner who lives in the St. Louis, MO area (Kirkwood to be exact).
I didn't even realize we had a local owners' group until someone directed me here from another message area!

I guess you could say a have a pretty long history of driving different cars and trading them off for something else after a year or three. Sometimes it's just been bad luck (like my Ford truck which I only got rid of after people couldn't stop rear-ending me in traffic!). But part of it is me being picky and enough of a sports car enthusiast that I keep finding cars I think I'll like, only to feel like I'm settling for less than I hoped for. (I had my *perfect* sports car in a low mileage '97 Toyota Supra twin-turbo, many years ago -- until I lost that one in a messy divorce!)

But anyway, the Crossfire was one of those cars that piqued my interest back when they were still selling new -- but I made the mistake of buying a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT instead. I got rid of the Eclipse after a year or so when it started acting funny on a road trip. (The dealer I traded it in to called me later, begging for a faxed copy of any and all service records I had, saying it developed some major engine trouble they were fighting with Mitsubishi to get fixed under warranty for them. So I guess I dumped it just in time!)

So fast-forwarding to the present? Saw an immaculate looking white Crossfire in a lot at the local grocery store last month and it made me think about them again. Started doing a lot of research and reading up and realized, "Hey... these things are still nice cars, holding up well, and have an active community too!" Decided if I got one, I wanted an SRT -- but there were no good ones to be had around here. So jumped on the chance to buy an SRT roadster I found in the Chicago area a couple weeks ago.

To be honest, I have a family now (wife and 3 kids), and this Crossfire is looked upon as a pretty impractical, senseless purchase on my part by most of those around me. (Sigh!) But the wife has a new Kia SUV so it's not like we lack a reliable vehicle to take the family around in....

So far, I'm enjoying the fact I found a car with performance fairly equal to my old Supra TT *and* scarce enough so it might actually have some collectible value as time goes on. I think this one's a "keeper"!

Don't know how many of the group events I can make it to? (Would have to be one of those rare times when it doesn't conflict with activities the kids have going on, on the weekends AND when we'd have someone to watch them.) But love the idea of the road trips to area wineries, eateries, etc. A lot of these are places I always wanted an excuse to drive out and see anyway.

Welcome to the group. If you see a red ragtop up and down 270, it is more than likely me. Well look forward to meeting you in person some day. Also there is a Gateway Crossfire Group on Facebook, my other half does most of the posting of activities there...ask to join (I guess you have to do that) and let her know you are local and I sent you there.
