Michigan Get up!
I think we should try to pick a day to go to Stoney Creek Metro Park at 26 mile and Mound, and maybe have a picnic or something. And then we can drive somewhere afterwards. I'm not too keen on Belle Isle. It was a really great place to go when I was 5, but that was over 40 years ago. I don't go down to Detroit anymore unless we have to.
LOL! I was 5 when we moved out of Detroit to the suburbs. I actually have lots of memories of living in the city. It was the early 60's so we were out before the racial riots popped up(which is why my Dad wanted us out). Times were different then...or were they?
Hey, I was thinking...
I'm going to keep a pad of sticky notes in my car and when I see other XF's in parking lots, I'm going to write "www.crossfireforum.org" on it and stick it to their windshields. That may get more people to visit the forum and maybe have more interested in a hook-up! I always park by a yellow roadster at the gym, but have never seen the owner, as it is there when I get there, but gone when I come out. Last time, the roadster was gone, but a black coupe was parked right behind me. Haven't seen them either.

It would be great to do a get together. Stoney Creek is nice. I also want to suggest Kensington Metro Park. We could meet up there, and go for a drive out that way. I don't remember the name of the road that comes off of it, but there is a road that goes west from US-23 (a couple of miles south of Brighton), and it curves around and over a number of gentle hills before spilling out on to M-52 in Chelsea. That's an excellent weekend drive, and can be a ton of fun at a modest (legal) clip. So, here is my suggestion:
1) Meet up for a picnic and Kensington.
2) Drive out to Chelsea via the curvy route mentioned above, choose an equally fun route to loop back to the Detroit area.
3) End the ride with optional dinner and drinks (any place with outdoor seating & plenty of parking).
So, I guess we would need to pick a weekend. I have to forewarn you that even if I am enthusiastic about a get together, I am going to be VERY busy this summer getting married and going on business trips. That said, I would make every effort for a MI run.

MI Roadster,
I understand what your saying about downtown Detroit, but that's the typical "suburban mentality" that keeps things the way they are around here. We've (SE MI CEG www.contour.org) had MANY meets on the island w/o incident. Now granted, we have em' on a Sunday where there's a different type of people who go out there, you know, families, people jogging, etc than what you see out there on the weekend nights. I know you haven't been out there in sometime, so I invite you to check it out before you say NO to the idea. Its not perfect, but its nowhere as bad as you say it is. I actually take my family out there about 3-4 times a year to drive around and hangout. From there, a trip to Mexican Village is a nice little drive, or we could head down Jefferson into the Grosse Points, its the same place that Autoweek uses to get shots of the cars they're testing, heck, they even use Belle Isle come to think of it, hmm! Either way, I'm open to anything in the area and the Kensington thing is good because the area around Chelsea is very nice. Lets set this up.

Well, ok.
We're racing in Stanton this weekend, and I'm thinking next weekend we may have free if we don't go to Milan Dragway. Our weekends are usually really busy, but maybe we can try to put something together. I'll check back here on Monday to see if anything is happening. Grosse Point sounds good to me. I always like drives by the water!
