I think it might be because some of the older XFire owners still don't know how to use a computer or don't have one.

I have seen several in and around Rhode Island. Two red ones I see a lot of, a grey one in warwick that's listed for sale, 4 White like mine and a couple of yellow roadsters as well as Pete's gun metal roadster.
I've had several people tell me that there is a lavender one around. I know Chryler didn't do that, it has to be a repaint. Odd color choice but the people that spotted it said it was nice.
Personally it sounds like brokeback Crossfire mountain to me..... I did see a few SRT's besides the two I went to Newport with. A black one that was being fitted with a boom box system in the deck, a saphire blue that is owned by a dentist who doesn't want to be bothered with any club stff, snotty race car driver type, Two silver coupes and 3 Black roadsters, a black coupe and the first roadster I had ever seen, a base model with SRT wheels in red.

You guys are losing it! You really need to join us at the Cape on Sunday to relieve a little of the built up anxiety you have developed over the Winter.

Nightrider, I assume I'd be going right through Norwich on the way, maybe we can connect somewhere down there and cruise in together?

Do we have an itinerary for the Newport Cruise yet? I think the meeting time is 1000 hrs at Newport Grand, unless you're meeting for breakfast some where, but nothing else has been said about exact routes of travel, etc. I know I'm curious about what we will be doing.

Will we have a plan, or will we be winging it?

There will be an itinerary of sorts. 10:00 am is the correct meeting time at Newport Grand parking lot. I am going to ask for a weigh in of all that are going to be attending so that I know how many spaces we will need at Colt State Park so that we can get a fire permit for the entire area. If y'all could chime in with anything you would like as far as places to visit.
As it stands now we have Belcourt Castle as a photo op spot followed by a run to Ocean Drive back and forth through Newport again to Middletown and stopping at a market to get hot dogs and hamburgers or steak/chicken and all the neccessary goodies to fill us up. Then on to the next photo op at the windmill, should make for a very nice backdrop. From there it's a direct route to Bristol via the Mt. Hope Bridge. It would be great if we could have someone run ahead and shoot us all lined up coming across the bridge. Once we get to Colt State Park, we can take some more photos and prepare for any cars getting upgraded, while that's being done, we can start the fires. Once the work is done, we can all talk about our cars and our thoughts for the future.
It doesn't sound like a lot but it will be and it will be fun.
Also, I need a count as to how many people will need tokens and how many. Please be accurate and send me a PM with your requests.
If there is something that we discussed previously, That I inadvertantly left out, let me know. I will be leading the pack throughout the cruise, I will NOT let anyone get lost and I will stop if I see that the others have been stopped at lights or have been cut off. I will also provide a map with the entire route planned out in advance. I also will recomend that everyone run wth their emergency flasher and headlamps on for visability.
Once again, if there is something that I forgot, let me know and we will try to change it accordingly.
There is a lot going on and I am doing my best to get everything organized correctly.
Thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter.

You da' man, Rick! I like your way of thinking.

What kind of "fire pits" do they have at Colt State Park? Do they have grates on them? Will it be necessary to bring small portable grilles, either charcoal or propane?

The disadvantage of our vehicles is limited trunk space, but if everybody can spare a little space we'll be in great shape.

Rick,...do you have an approximate count of the number or XFire people that will be attending? Once we know that number we can think about what are menu options are. I would avoid chicken unless it is precooked them warmed on the grill. Raw chicken is a great spreader of salmonella, and since we won't have any way of washing our utensils and our hands after handling raw chicken, I would recommend we avoid that scenario. Probably hot dogs, brats, and burgers would be the best. Maybe some precooked sausage, peppers, and onions would be a tasty treat on rolls. We could put it in those throw-away aluminum half trays and put it right on the grill to heat up. Throw in some potato salad and/or macaroni salad and we will have a lunch that's easy to prepare and enjoy.

If all those who are planning to attend could let us know their preferences, we could come up with roughly what we need. I can buy some Kayem Old-time Franks at BJ's Wholesale. I think there's about 40-45 franks per box. The same applies to burgers. They usually come 20 to a package (fresh burgers), or we could buy frozen burgers. We could also purchase the potato salad or macaroni salad unless someone wants to make it at home.

Let's start hearing other people's suggestions. What do you say?

Bob

OK Bob, They do have pits with grilles on them, they also allow the use of propane and other types of grilles like hibachi, I will find out more tomorrow as to how many we can have and how much the permits cost if anything. The precooked chicken is a good idea and it would just need to be warmed up, I'm well versed on food safety as I have issues with
my intestines. I believe we have 13 or 14 at last count, that's cars, not people. I'm still waiting for PM's from everyone. I did speak with a guy from Long Island who is coming in on Friday night and we are going to get together beforehand. Anyone that is coming from the south and west are going to meet at the park and lock on RT 1A, at (9:30 am) if anyone wants to join me for breakfast, there is a small place on 1A on the right hand side across from a funeral home I believe it's D&J's There's a flower shop attached to the building, pretty easy to spot. I figure we can all park our Crossfires in the Funeral parlor lot while we have breakfast. Then leave to go to the other lot to meet with the folks who didn't want breakfast.
I have some really good charcoal real wood OAK that has been made just for grilles and some mesquite as well. That about does it for me, it's up to the rest of the folks to write in now. Rick

Oh, I forgot to mention, only the roadsters have limited boot space. I can fit a whole two weeks groceries in mine!!! I STILL will give that up for a roadster though and the yellow is my first choice but it has to have the black and cream leather interior I'd settle for a black with the black and cedar interior or a saphire blue with the black/creme combo. Red with that combination would be nice too.
