Club Name and logo?
Light house does not add to it in my opinion. Just makes it to busy. Could you move the NEX down a tad and to the left. Centered in the bump out.

I agree, I just wanted to give the lighthouse a try. Great advice on the centering the NEX. I was so focused on design that I missed it wasn't centered.

I feel the same way as Crossfirefun, ditch the lighthouse. I like lighthouses and often photograph them but I don't think we need one on our potential logo.

I kept staring at the last two examples Peter supplied for us re our potential club logo. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, or maybe it's just the darker color, but the "-X-" looks smaller than the "-N-" and the "-E-". I'm sure they are the same font size but does anyone else see what I mean?
I was wondering when we could finalize the logo design and maybe move to the next step of having something done with the logo. Should we start with a rear window sticker? Should we invest in some t-shirts and hats? Should we step it up a notch and do golf or polo style shirts? What about color coordination with the color of our XFires? Yellow for me, black for Stan, blue for Phil, etc, etc., or should we find out what the best buy would be and go with that color?
Does anyone have a friend in the business? Is there anyone who can give us a great buy? Would there be a minimum order? Are you guys willing to buy extras if necessary to get the best deal? How do we distribute these items to avoid spending big bucks on shipping charges?
There are a lot of questions to be answered regarding this very worthwhile project. Our next step after choosing the logo is committment. Are you in?

Hi Xfirenorth,
I had to take a second look at it because I see what you are saying. But after further review the ruling on the field stand. -N- -E- -X- are all the same size. I think it is because the -X- is blue it looks smaller. I drew line on the top and bottom to show that they are all the same height.
To everyone this is not a logo sample it is just to show that the letters are the same size because the X also played a trick on me too.
Thank you again Xfirenorth

I like it! Here's another challenge for you, Peter. Change the "-N-E-X-" to all white, and make "NEW" red, "ENGLAND" white, and finally "XFIRES" blue. This would help to remove the illusion that the -X- is a different size.

Completly not my business and looking in from the outside:
Take many of the examples you have worked up to a lot of different people. Don't say anything about them not a word. Ask them to pick out the best/better and tell you what they see/problems. Ask them what does it mean/do they know.
What I see is this: The layout in post #77 is clean, very much like a XF's. The oval is an easy shape to look at, easy on the eyes, smooth. The last layout of the states is irregular, harsh with jagged lines and alien looking. Sorry don't mean to offend and I live in a state that is shaped like a mitten with a thorn laying on it!
I can't imagin what we'd make up.
Another odd but for me real thing is that when I read "Xfires" my eyes/mind sees "Xfliers". Is there a way to use the actual word Crossfire some where and change the Xfires to just XF?
Otherwise I'm not a big fan of red/white/blue, but I'm a rotten no good liberal so I'd say something like this. On our yellow car I'd be hard pressed to add red or blue-no I don't think so. If it is a badge sticker that would look silly, like a nose or a kids sticker.

The NEX logo is looking great. You might want to keep in mind, the more difficult to make, the more it will cost. Our CTC shirts and decals are made locale. The member orders the shirt color. The logo is is placed on the shirt in black or white based on what will show best on the shirt. The shirt and decal are sold at cost. The shirt and logo are brought to the member at the next GTG so there is no shipping. You may notice that we have red white and blue in our logo. The color of the X and CTC are adjusted based on the color of the shirt so it doesn't blend in. One member had yellow shirts made with black text and lines. The red X and blue CTC looks very good on the yellow shirt.

Now the problem or reading XFires as XFliers. We use the word XFire to represent the word Crossfire. If I was unfamiliar with this brand of vehicle, would I know what XFire stands for? I would say probably not. Pehaps keeping word recognition in mind, we may want to consider replacing "XFire" with "Crossfire". Once again, if people are unfamiliar with the car, they may think we are members or a religious group, or maybe something worse.
Maybe we are getting carried away with this idea and should subscribe to a K.I.S.S. plan. The more we get involved with an intricate design and color combinations, the more it will cost us to reproduce such a logo.
I say let's hear from more XFire owners from outside New England with their thoughts.
Bob M
I feel X fire makes us more a club than an ad. Also X may peek people's curiosity. Other cross fire owners will understand te symbol. maybe a web address would be good on it.
I always wondered about the X being used for the cross in Crossfire, isn't this more of a cross in Crossfire?
+FIRE
Although it is a logo and most Crossfire owners know what XFire is, the logo is an ad or sign to show everyone that we belong to a unique club. Just as everyone knows a Vette club is a Corvette club. On the other hand, the logo is on a Crossfire and the car itself will peak interest, so they can assume the XFire logo is for a Crossfire club.
I'm just rambling on. Either way the NEW ENGLAND CROSSFIRES or XFIRES will have a unique logo and glad to have helped in any way.
