Default Black Crossfire '04 with Red Accents

Hey Crossfire owners! Been looking at this site for about a year at other peoples cars and just finally decided to make my own. I"ve had my Crossfire for about a year (bought it in April of '12) and haven't done all that much work on it so far. It's a 2004 black and i got it looking as plain as they come so I could gradually make it my own.

So far I've smoked the tail lights and reflectors, put hash marks on the side skirts, and I just recently had the wheels powder coated glossy black and threw on some red MGP caliper covers. Ive ordered some reflective red wheel stripes that havent come in yet and i plan on getting the windshield and handles painted black and the side streaks painted red to match the calipers, wheels and hash stripes. I want to get the look how i want it before I start working on the engine and exhaust.

But I'm glad to be part of this forum now and I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say! If any of you have suggestions or anything to say my ears are wide open!

If you want inspiration, search the forum's galleries for "boilerupxfire". John had a black base coupe that he put tons of money and time into. It was the only 'blacked out' car I've ever liked! The car was, sadly, totalled in an accident some two years ago - but the up side is, while he rolled and went upside down in a river, the car kept him safe!

i like the sound of that man! I originally wanted gunmetal aftermarket wheels but i decided to go with the powder coat because if was more economical... but looking forward to your progress!

Yesterday i got my reflective wheel stripes in and put them on right away. it didnt take more than an hour really, but i like the new look it gives the wheels. i think it emphasizes the size of the wheels that was harder to see when the wheels and tires were just black on black. and let me tell ya, when other headlights hit them they glow like crazy!

I also have a question if anyone here can help me answer it.. I want to install a Magnaflow or other good sounding muffler in place of my OEM muffler to give the car a little better and sportier sound. I just dont know what inlet or outlet size or dual outlets etc. to order the muffler. if anyone could post a link to the size i need it would be greatly appreciated!

wow that stripe isn't something I've seen before but I like it... I never really liked our OEM rims in Black just because of the black wheel on black tire thing but the stripe definitely breaks it up.. digging it!

I just bought this :

OBX Steel Catback 03 07 Chrysler Crossfire 3 2L V6 2dr Twin Oval Tip | eBay

I did a 'best offer' at $334 and they took it ( with free shipping )
Installed it yesterday, very happy with the sound.

"red lines" ?

I'd say reflective red tape, why go half way .......
( I actually have some that I bought 2 years ago with just that in mind.
After installing it on one wheel, I took a look and said "NO WAY !! )

As they say, " What goes around, comes around".

I almost bought an AMX like this one (only with a red interior) 43 years ago. I still like black and red sports cars today.
I'm a big fan of modding your ride just the way YOU like it. Don't worry about it not being in "original condition" because it can always be put back to "stock" if need be.
Welcome to the forum.
Here are couple other notable black and red Crossfires.

touche Mr. Miata... I do appreciate you calling me on my bullshit because I completely forgot about my snarky rim protector comment.

Though in my defense, I remember the rim protectors being larger/thicker... I also wasn't a fan of the blue on the stock wheels

The black wheels, however, need something to break up the monotone where wheel meets tire. And the red seems reminiscent of the redline tires referenced above...

The reflective part, eh maybe not so much.. but maybe I'm just a sucker for black and red

Thanks for the feedback guys!

My next executive decision will be the exhaust. i dont want a full cat back right now, so i think im just going to go with an aftermarket muffler. i think ive decided on the Flowmaster Super 44. Anyone else know of a good sounding muffler around the same cost?
