Default Possible purchase...soliciting comments

Looking at a 2004 MG Crossfire Coupe auto with 89k miles on it. Owner asking $8500 but KBB suggests $6500-$7000. Looks in very good to excellent shape. Would need to travel to see/drive/buy it.

What should I be looking for on these things? Timing chain/belt, electrical issues, suspension wear...tell me. Most reviews, everyone raves about it but I would like honest answers. I'm 6'1" and have heard it is a tight fit...nothing local to look at so I can't try one on for size.

Your comments are welcome!

Well Valk already posted the thread, so take some time and check it out. Take the car and test drive it for a day, not an hour. After poking around this site and reading that thread you will have a good idea of what to look for. I do not know that any common thing would be a deal breaker for me, just a bargaining chip! I am handy and this site allows me to fix my car affordably when necessary.

OH! MG didn't build this car. Karman did.

Boy, Um, not sure here - $8500? That does seem at least $1,000 high to me (but prices vary around the country). My Roadster had 44,000 on it and I got it for $11,700 three years ago before the prices dropped. THe car is 10 years old!

Read that link in VALK's post!

I'm 6' and it is a tight fit. Not bad once inside but I tend to drag my head above the door opening getting in and out. There is also just enough leg room once seated, no extra. Make sure you sit in one before purchase. Mines destined for my daughter's first car in 2 years and she is 5'5" so no worries.
