Greetings from Soth Africa,
Good day,
To me the Chrysler Crossfire is the most beautiful car on the road and I would like to acquire one in the not too distant future. I have been looking at Crossfires for sale for some time and recognise that there are not many available in South Africa. Seems that only 18 SRT’s were imported by Chrysler and none are available. This means that I must choose between a Roadster or Coupe and also manual or automatic.
Questions which arise are the normal.
- Is the roadster’s roof mechanism reliable?
- Should I rather opt for a coupe and why?
- Does mileage really matter? At what mileage should one rather not buy?
- Guidance on choice between manual and auto?
Suggestions and comments are welcome.
Kind regards,
Herman
The car I am currently looking at can be seen by following the following URL:

Converted to US and $12,800 seems fair.
Make sure the rear window is securely attached all the way around, other than that I think you will enjoy a roadster more than the coupe.
( it has more headroom than the coupe even with the top up )

Don't have a roadster, so can speak about the first two ?s
Mileage should not be a big issue as long as it's priced according.
It a MB engine, same as the one in the slk/clk 320.
Auto or stick is probably a personal preference.

Good luck

What source are you using to determine that 18 SRT6's were imported to South Africa? Do you have access to a list of VIN#'s, colors and whether they are coupes or roadster?
Any assistance would be appreciated.....

Best DTMenace,
I called Chrysler South Africa to get the information regarding the SRT6's imported. They said only 18 were imported. Would they give out VIN numbers and all the relevant details?
If I am looking for a SRT6, is there another way to trace the ones that are still running?
Kind regards,
Herman

We have attempted to obtain the VIN# list from Chrysler and the Karmann factory in Germany (where the Crossfire's were built), but both sources failed to supply any detailed information to provide a database.
There is one SRT6 owner from South Africa that provided his VIN# for the database we have and his forum name is arjuniyerp. If you go to the main page of this site and click on the user CP and insert that name, it will provide a few details as to his location and email address if you attempt to contact him.
Good luck with your search for a Crossfire....

Not sure if this link is still active but I live in South Africa, in the Western Cape and recently bought a 2004 Crossfire Coupe with automatic transmission. I think there are more roadsters than coupes in SA, which is understandable, but I much prefer the look of the coupe. Mine is white by the way.
Many thanks ZERACER. I just had to correct the subject line of this thread! I love the look of my coupe and this forum has provided lots of useful info, so I am an avid fan.
