Default New Guy in Northern California

Hi there. New guy from Northern CA (just north of Sacramento). I just picked up a 2004 Crossfire about a month ago.

First off, let me say thank you to this forum and all of the participants. Your ideas, knowledge, and expertise are great. Thank you! I have spent many many hours reading through old posts and I am grateful and inspired.

Here is the short story on my Crossfire…

It is a 2004 coupe model with automatic transmission and 131,000 miles. I got a decent deal on it because it wouldn’t start/run. ‘Ran when parked.’ I bought it from a real nice guy in his early 80’s who is a friend of a friend of mine’s in the old/classic car community out here. It was his wife’s car. She unfortunately passed away 3 or 4 years ago and it had been parked ever since. I took a gamble on it based on the knowledge I gained from this forum. Best case scenario I was hoping that it was just a simple RCM issue and worst case I figured it was a skreem module failure. I first went through the RCM. It had been gone through before but I touched it up a bit. Still no start. It turned out to be a bad skreem module. It had the classic 3 strikes and you are out until you disconnect the battery and try again deal.

I decided to go with Precision ECU and have the main computer reprogrammed to delete/immobilize the skreem system. Precision ECU is great! I called them twice. They answered the phone both times and answered my questions. The turnaround from Precision ECU was fantastic. They received my stuff at 2pm and had it back out in the mail at 4pm the same day! When I got the skreem and PCM back, I immediately got to work. First I just installed the PCM without installing the skreem. The car started on the first try!. Next I additionally installed the skreem but I did NOT hook up the can/bus wires nor the key ring halo wires – only the power connection was hooked up. It again started up on the first turn. I was ecstatic.

I am having a great time driving the car and fixing all the little odds and ends that have been neglected for a while. I am sure I will have questions along the way but I will thoroughly search the forum before I ask anything.

Thanks again!
