Hello! I have a 2005 Crossfire Limited Convertible, black paint and black top. It's my wife's baby, but since having a stroke in 2014, she can never drive again. It has one major problem, blowing the #5 fuse. I currently cannot operate the top or let the spoiler down. Need some serious help!

How old is the battery in the Crossfire. Any reduction in the viability of the battery will result in the malfunction of the spoiler. If it's more than 4 years old, buy a new one, cost is less than $200.
Just my 2 cents....

#5 Fuse in which fuse box location? And they moved fuses around over the years - does the car have heated leather seats (Limited) or manual cloth seats (Base)?
We've found several discrepancies in fuse locations versus the only service manuals we have on this site: The 2004 Coupe manual and the 2005 SRT Roadster manual.

If it's fuse 5 in the underhood box, it should be a 25 amp fuse and it feeds the power top controller and pump. If this blows right away, it has to be a bad PTCM. IF it only blows when you attempt to move the top, I'd think the pump motor is probably the culprit.

The battery is brand new! The fuse blows by turning on the switch. There is no function to the spoiler switch, no light.

You have GOT to be more specific. What switch?

The fuse locations changed every time they built a car. The only way to know for sure is to confirm with the card inside the underhood fuses. Usually they are wet and damaged or missing.

I believe he is talking about the spoiler switch on the dash?

The fuse is the central control unit 5A fuse. The car has a manual transmission.

What is the "central control unit"? Does the fuse card actually say that?

And again, WHEN does it blow?
Does it blow as soon as you put a new fuse in?
Does it blow when you hit a switch?
Does it blow when you start the car?

The fuse card states that and the fuse blows soon as the ignition switch is turned on.

Folks! My mistake on the fuse number, instead of #5 fuse blowing, it's 7, the central control unit. I read on another thread that the central control unit is the BCM. My spoiler is stuck in the up position and the convertible top does not work.

The 05 service manual (which has errors and omissions) shows #7 feeds several items including the BCM.
If you are going to chase this yourself, you need the service manual, Search "Crossfire Documentation Collection" here on the forum and get the 04 and 05 manuals.
