Hello!
Hello, i’m looking towards buying a 2008 Xfire. I’m really new to cars and i was wondering too if this would make a nice project car to mod over time, i’m not to interested in high speed or anything like that, i just want to have fun with it. If y’all have any suggestions for me then that would be greatly appreciated.
The Crossfire is particularly suited to the DIY or tinkerer. I say that, because there is NO dealer or factory support for them whatsoever. And for my money, a two seat sportscar beats anything on four wheels for fun.
Just look out for "bargin basement" Crossfires, unless you are ready to get deep into it.

From what I have gathered, the 07 and 08s were all subject to the recall. My 07 SE was on the recall, of course, NO DEALER WILL EVER GET THEIR HANDS ON MY CAR.
Just going to suggest that if a car you are looking at is subject to the recall, then make sure it has already been done. It is a nightmare since must be serviced by a Chrysler dealer.
Just make sure you get a dealer that originally sold the Crossfire if you want the airbag replaced on the recall. Chrysler closed quite a few dealerships back when sales were in the tank & consolidated with existing Dodge dealers. I had the airbag on my 2007 Coupe replaced by the dealer in my area that sold the Crossfire & serviced the car. The other CDJR dealer in my area was given the Chrysler dealership that Chrysler closed down the street. Those guys didn't know anything about the Crossfire. Still don't!
I still remember watching the Service Advisor connecting to the OBD2 & looking for any codes that were generated. When I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was looking for any problems I might be having with the car. I told him there were no other problems with the car and that there were no codes generated because I looked before I came to the dealer that morning. Then I told him I was there for an appointment to have the airbag replaced and they needed to focus all their attention on doing that required service without impacting anything else on my 2007 Coupe.
OK what happened was they pulled the recall and gave it back to me with the air bag light on. Gave me the spiel about was already on and not their problem until I showed the picture idling at the dealer with the same ODO and the light off.
Expect it helped that I had bought my Grand Cherokee (with lifetime warranty) there a few years before. Still have.

"must have a dumb mechanic" why I only go to a stealer if there is a recall or a warranty (Jeep only) item. Actually just lucky, wanted a record if they installed the wrong color airbag cover)
The Takata Airbag recall included the 2007 & 2008 Model Year Crossfires.
