KYB shocks front
Hello everyone, I have a question on installing front shocks. Do you install a rubber bushing on the top of shocks before putting it in the car? Or do you use the old stuff off the old shocks?
Thanks Terry
Thanks Terry
I replaced my shocks with a different brand than KYB.
I have included pictures from a post I did when I removed my old shocks and when I installed them.
There is a rubber grommet that goes on the shock itself. There is another thicker grommet that goes on the inner fender well in the engine compartment. I don't know if KYB installs the same as mine, but maybe the pics will help.
Hello, thanks for the information, I really didn't know I had to put in a category, but it makes sense. So, I went ahead and put KYB back on it. But the new ones have 280 lbs. of pressure in them. I'm just not that strong to collapse them. So, I'm going to check with my tire dealer and see if they will put them on, So when I post a question, I'm supposed to use daily threads.

The problem with doing that with yours is the pressure as you mentioned.
You don't have to put it in a category, but you will get faster and more replies that way.
Best of luck to you
Ok thanks for getting back to me, Yes these shocks didn't come with those straps. I put KYB on my 86 corvettes many years ago, yes, I still have the car my wife owns a 1978 pace car that we've sense 1991.So these shocks came with some large rubber bushings to put on first to install next to the body under the car so confusing there. It also is showing using the top rubber bushing that came on the car to use that, So my son is helping me get it done. I just removed the air filters there the original ones, and the plugs looks they've a very long time also. Thats, ok I like the challenge.

The night before you change them, if you have an air compressor, blow out the area around each spark plug. Then spray penetrating oil around them.
Spray penetrating oil again the day you replace them.

Thanks Terry
I also ordered the wrench and the magnetic socket, I also ordered a set of new plugs DENSO plugs 5303. I also believe there all the original.
