Crossfires Across America -August 2012 - RENO / LAKE TAHOE, NV ?
Guys I hope you can pull this off for another year.
I checked and it is over 2200 miles for me to get there, so I will have to opt out this year.
Good luck, James

For me the distance seems a barrier. But more the cost of time this year. So much going on. However one should take time to smell the roses. I assume they have roses in Reno.
Crumpy has never seen The Rockies or the desert. We did spend a week in the Sierras back in '94. She liked it. I have to get her interested in the 1800 miles between here and there.
Any Zip lines around Reno?BTW,the poll needs another catagory for interested folks still pending their decision.

I have been told that it probably won't come together for this year. But if there is enough interest I do not see why not. I think 15-20 cars would be more than enough, heck my wife and I will be up there anyway so I think if just 10 wanted to make the trip that would be fine with me. We just could not expect a great group discount. So if there is interest chime in!
First I would love to attend for the first time. That is why I am trying to get a good group up here in the Northwest, just for this reason to join others some where in the USA for others to meet with. I was told it would be hard but I am going to continue to do so till I can tell you guys we have 10+ Norhtwest members. (start small...shoot small, or was that Aim small shoot...OH, that's the movie.) I would be interested in how many would come form back East all the Way to the West. Maybe that is why Colarado is so Popular...the middle road for those who don't want to drive their Crossfires's too many miles, and for those who just don't want to drive for day's...and day's....and day's. Going from Ohio to Tennesse is a piece of cake compared going from Montana to Utah. The west is so spread out, but the freeways are that "a Need for Speed" roads. Tahoe is really more fun than Reno, if you wanted to know...also more curves for the Crossfires. One of these years I will be going to the Dragon with you guys, when i have time from work. Rebecca and i have already discussed that. Just wnat ot meet some of my CICCI friends and Crossfire owners. You are all wecome to join us in May if you want for our Yakima, WA Wine tour. (mmmm taste the Wine,)

I certainly have no reservations for coming out that way, but I already have a vacation planned for late this summer and I simply would not be able to attend this year. If you want to schedule it for 2013, I am certainly up for it.

Don't give up hope as it is still early in the year.
I really think this can happen !!!

Heck for the best driving roads the best place to start out would actually be Carson City, NV or Virgina City NV. Both very very close (30-45min away.) They have great access to some great driving in all directions.

It is most beautiful there and Dina and I would definitely make it to this event; I hope it can happen. Don't forget that Reno has one of the top 10 auto museums in the Country; National Auto Museum (The Harrah Collection) :: National Automobile Museum | Reno, Nevada :: They have a banquet room and have catered many auto clubs over the years. We look forward to meeting you and all the forum members that will be able to make the Journey North,South,East or West.
Sounds good! My initial thoughts are 1.) The Museum 2.) At least seeing Lake Tahoe from up high somewhere nice. (Vista turnouts or perhaps even Heavenly Valley's or Squaw Valley's Tram to the top)? I hope you and your wife decide to put this CAA together. It sounds like you've got support from those that have done the first two. I will pitch in and help but don't want to be a primary. Let's do this; we could all use a little vacation. RENO - "The Biggest Little City In The World"

But then we started thinking about Virginia City, NV. It could be really cool to have the rooms in a real oldwest mining town and we could speak to the Mayor there about letting us use the parking lot they have for events (he is a good friend of one of our good friends.)
here is a link to Virginia City Virginia City, Nevada ? Official Site for Hotels, Restaurants, Museums, Attractions, Events, History ? Comstock Lode Mining, V&T Railroad, Storey County it would be only a 45-50 minutes drive top Tahoe from there. Our friend who is friends with the mayor owns a Bed and breakfast there and 10 of the stores. So he may have some pull at getting us some good deals at the hotel up there. We may even be able to do our own parade as they are the parade committee basically haha. He also has a really nice private collection of cars he might not mind showing everyone. My favorite is a (I believe) 1929 Cadillac with something like 10k original miles. He is only the second owner. He hounded the original owner sending post cards and dropping by for holidays for years until he sold it to him.
Just another idea after the 2012 or 2013 year is settled on.
It all looks and sounds great. I like the "Step back in Time" part. Let me know if there is anything we can help with.

It really is a fun little town for a base of operations and all the roads leading out of it are twisty and turny down into the Reno and Washoe Valleys.
Only thing we really need to figure out is who wants to go and if people favor 2012 or 2013.

With it being this early in the year I think others who can or will commit still have plenty of time if you do this in the summer/fall time frame.
I'd say plan it out for this year and set a firm date and plan so people can commit and make the necessary plans to attend.
You have presented some very good ideas on things to do and places to see and go already.
I think your already off to a good start.
Most people can't commit to something next year right now anyway...it just to far away for most to know.
Put me and Eileen down as very definite MAYBE's! Long haul for this old bod, but car wants to go. Missed last year because of pneumonia, don't wanna miss another.

This weekend Zo and I are going to look at the event calenders for Reno, Tahoe, Virginia City, Sparks and Carson City (all are rather close to one another so all events seem to spill over into the surrounding areas.) We are going to do our best to find a nice mid-week where nothing big is going on so as to avoid hotel prices shooting up as well as the roads being flooded with traffic.
I am sure we will be able to find some week with a gap of events or just a small event that should not affect a meet in anyway.

My son and I are both interested, so there's 2 more xf's who might be able to make it. I can't commit just yet, but we made it to St Louis 2 years ago. It would be great to attend a closer CAA.
I'll go poll but it won't include my son, he's not a forum member...yet

Zo and I will be staying at our friends B&B most likely. If people do not mind spending a little more I can probably get them a discount there Bed and Breakfast B&B Virginia City, Nevada at Cobb Mansion. This year they let me rent out all the rooms included two that are not usually open to the public (and not listed on the website) so that we and some of our friends could all stay in one place for the Governor's ball. They usually will give people a discount if we refer them. Once we have the dates all figured I will also call them and see if they would be willing to give members a discount. There are also some other B&B's up there depending on where people want to stay. Once we have the dates set I will of course provide more info on them.
