Default Buying New or Used

I'm 66. Over the years I have had more new cars than I can remember.
We now own 3 vehicle, my 06 XF Roadster being one of them.

All were purchased used.

In Ontario, Canada, between the Governments and the dealers we get screwed when we buy new.

When we buy used, no matter how many km/miles on the vehicle, you can expect 18-20% off the new sticker price.

New, additional charges.
In Ontario, on a new vehicle, we pay a $400+ a fuel tax, a $100 air conditioner tax, 8% provincial tax, 6% goods and service tax, and $25 license transfer, or $106 if its new plates.
Then on a new vehicle, the dealers charge a vehicle destination charge of about $1,100 plus administration fees about $260 and vehicle preparation fees of about $200, and now the latest on new vehicles is a security etching fee/insurance of about $250.

If we buy used, private deal, the only charges we pay are the 8% provincial tax, and the license transfer.
If we buy used from a dealer, we also pay the 6% GST. The dealer also goes after more money (admin./prep./etching) but these are negotiable.

Unless by chance I come into a lot of money;
I DOUBT THAT I'LL EVER BUY NEW VEHICLE AGAIN!
