new audi tt ...
Me Too!!! I can't wait to see what the RS version turns out to be like (inline 5 with twin turbo's is the rumor...or 1/2 of the Audi/Lambo V-10 you could say). I would consider a 3.2 DSG with the HPA Motorsport "single-turbo" set-up!
Very nice looking car. I saw in a magazine article, the clubsport quattro. I'll try to get a picture, but it had an identical grille without the "strip" that holds the plate. Nevertheless; this is an attractive car.
Here's the "Clubsport" concept from May:

It "has no top, no A-column, and no rear view mirrors, instead relying on a small windshield and side mirrors that have the turn indicators embedded within." The last I read, Audi is actually considering putting this one into production.

Looks like the old TTs are blowing up left & right....saw one being loaded on a tow truck today.....guess their timing belts break & take out the engines;
fact:
1) All TT timing belts should be replaced every 3 years or 60K miles. The US Owners manual is misprinted and says 105K miles. The Australian owners manual says 100K km. It is a mis-print in the US Owners manual - they didn't convert from metric to US measurements, which would be about 66K miles.
2) The timing belt is composed of rubber - it degrades. Therefore, even if the car is low-mileage, after 3 years, the timing belt should be replaced because moisture, heat stress etc. cause wear and tear and it becomes brittle.
3) As stated above, the engine is an interference engine. It will be destroyed if the timing belt breaks - not a great design but I guess it keeps things fairly compact. So the risk by not changing one's timing belt is an engine that is unusable and costs approx $6500 to repair.

That's definitely a beautiful car, Andrew. A buddy of mine purchased one about three weeks ago, and loves it. The fit and finish on the inside is impeccable.
Audi are great cars...
For the first owner !
After that, look out man ! The repair costs are just scary high.
Once the warranty is gone and you have to take it to those white-coat-wearing Porsche/Audi techs to get anything fixed the charm wears off really fast. How many 8-12 year old Audis do you see running around ? Ask the owners of an older Audi what they think of the cars. Check the resale prices on higher mileage Audis versus a similar Mercedes or BMW. Sure the writers in the car magazines love 'em. They don't have to worry about taking care of them once the warranty runs out !
Good choice to lease but not to own for the long haul.
Cheers,
Slim

And nobody beats Audi in regards to trim and fit - nobody! Period! No MB, No BMW and no Lexus!(however - in terms of ride quality it easily competes with the lousy one of the SRT! And I have two!

If you go to the Detroit Autoshow, check out the TT-S with 272 hp of turbo Fsi power. It uses a revised version of the 265 hp engine from the European S3. The TT-S will be available in the U.S this spring.
Audi also showed a R8 with a V12 Diesel, that car is really sweet.

a good tt-s article with pic to share:

Looks like the same car with the curves smashed out of it, and a new uglier vacuum cleaner like front end. I don't know, doesn't turn me on. Roof line reminds me of those weird ford taurus cars when they first came out. But, to each their own!
I really like the old TT's. In photos, I've been lukewarm about the new ones, but after seeing a couple in person, I'm digging them.
It'll be kept in mind for next year's autocross car...
