Your very first car...driving/owning
Yes Doc. I just corrected my post. It was a Mercury Comet Caliente. There were three versions then. The Comet base, the Caliente, and the sport version was a Cyclone.
Bought my first car in July 1960 while in the Air Force.
I believe it was the ultimate " chic car ".
A yellow convertable. "1957 Chevrolet Bel Air"
Had it till 1964, when I was about to get married, and traded it for a 1962 Chevrolet corvair.
Had that till 1967 and traded it for my first new car,
A 1967 Chevrolet NOVA coupe, with 3 on the tree.
I loved those cars almost as much as the XFIRE.

My first was a 1947 Plymouth coupe that I bought from my mom for $75.00. I used my paper route money to pay for the car. It had a truck motor that crashed. I put a 55 full house flat head six, Isky roller cam, Fenton aluminum head, Fenton dual headers, Mallory ingintion and could beat most 55-57 Chevyies. I put dual exhaust and one was under the passanger floor board. One night I ran a 56 Ford V-8 and smoked him. Trouble was the muffler got so hot the carpet caught on fire. Ahh, memories.
My first car was a hand me down, a 71 Doge Dart Swinger 225 slant 6 Butterscotch in color. I would have still had it today if an ahole didn't fall asleep at the wheel of a 300z and hit it head on while it was parked, the car was 24 years old when it was totaled and still looked like new.
For me it was a 1957 Plymouth - The one with the monster fins and a push button auto. No big V8 for that unit, just a flat head inline 6 that made me feel like the king of the road.
Bought it for $100 from my uncle in 1963. It was the car that got me the girl that became my wife. Let me have a job out of the city, and gave me the understanding of how to maintain and fix a car.
Not bad at all for $100.
On top of that I was able to sell it for $400 in 1966 to buy my very first brand new car a 1966 Ford Galaxy.
I am so sorry that some how I do not have any photos of it but was able to find these two of the outside [ mine was green] and inside (a 58 that looks the same inside)

1964 blue Plymouth Baracuda with a manual 4 speed and an all glass fastback. It was great for drive in movie theaters. I used 1 quarts of oil every time I filled it up with gas.
My first new car. (WTF) Well I had hoped a picture of my first car would magically appear here but it didn't. Guess the darn internet is just smarter than me tonight. Can't click and drag. Can't cut and paste. Totally ignored my attempt to paper clip it. You all will just have to guess what the picture was. Maybe i should have tried this before I split a bottle of vino russo with the copilot.
