It is hard to tell, but is the bike really trying?

And what is that - a 250? (Not to say the Bel Aire is not modded and fast - it is.)

Ya - I know what you mean. It looked to me like the bike was getting on it early, but I can't get a clear view of the speedo (not the swimsuit - settle down ). I read some of the posts on You Tube and it never said what size the bike was (that I could find) but the comments were taking shots at the suspected HP of the Bel Aire.

One of the guys on FB I know posted it, he said the bike is a 250 and that, while the car IS fast (no one can doubt that), if the biker was on a (as he puts it) "real sportbike with *****", the car could not possibly have outrun him.

Based on my time on the DRagon with the sport bikes up there, I'd think he knew what he was talking about.

Just the same, the Bel Aire is not stock - not taking off like THAT.

Lol, I was going to say the same thing. My 600 is 100 crank horsepower more than the ninja 300, if this was a ninja 250 then an SRT would probably pull a lot harder than the bel air. The ninja 300 would probably lose to a limited... Big difference lol.

Line that sucker up to a supersport, he'd get beat. Line him up to a superbike and it would be embarrassing. As much as I love fast cars, there will always be a faster bike. My dream is a moto GP bike. 250 whp, 500 lbs with me sitting on it.

I can speak from personal experience... My 1200cc gets absolutely buried on the highway against the '6. Quite frankly, it's a little saddening.

In town however, much different story!

Is it a cruiser? Guessing a twin? I never understood why the lack of power from such huge cylinders. My friends 05 sportster 1200 gets worse gas mileage than my R6, half the horsepower but double the torque and has a top speed of like 115, if you work at it for a mile or so lol. I'm gearing limited to 186 and it get's there QUICK.

EDIT: The R6 is 200 lbs lighter too.

What impresses me about the video is I've seen videos of modded street cars filmed from a stationary camera at a drag strip behind the tree and it doesn't look like the cars disappear as fast as this Bel Aire did that was being chased by a moving camera and didn't do a burn out to prep for the run, although the rolling start probably helped that. I'm sure the slower bike adds to the look of speed when you are expecting a bike to keep up with a car.

Bikes Blues and BBQ a few years back... Our group on street cruisers came up on some crotch rockets at a red light.. Turned green and they zipped off. We caught back up to them at the next light. Same scenario played out. This time when the light changed I Jumped on the 1200 Sporty.. arrived at the light with them.. WTF looks from them all.. LOL. Wife wasn't too thrilled.. but I was smiling.. Being lighter than the other Harley's they do get a decent hole shot.

The ninja 250 and 300's are deceiving. I wanted one until I realized they only have 16 hp for the 250 and 30 hp for the 300. I guess I down played the 300 a tad. 0-60 is high 5 second range, and the quarter is low 14's. I think it was the 250 that's 7 to 60 and like 16 in the quarter.

That's funny. If the sportster I rode wasn't so damn heavy I would buy one for cruising. It's comfortable as hell. I just hate the lack of power from them. I have seen/heard of some gnarly one's though. That would be fun.

Mine maxes out at ~150 (5 cogs). Makes around 100hp/75tq at the wheel. Weighs about 380lbs dry. It's very much the same family member to Harley as the XF is to Merc/Chrysler, a black sheep.

Had some good runs with my cousin's 750 gixxer til around third gear, then it was bye-bye time! Lol

Nice , that aint bad at all. Is it the V-rod? I don't know much about Harley's just that the V-rod isn't their motor and pumps out good power. Or a Buell? I really wanted the 1125 SB that I saw. That thing was a monster.
