There goes fleet sales for the big three.
And it goes 155 mph so our Crossfires can't out run it without a "flash" tune.
Well maybe thru the "Dragon"

On seconds thought, Franc, the article mentioned biodiesel capability. Think Mercedes Bluetec... I think you may be closer on your guess.

i was actually just reading that article before i jumped over here during lunch. they do bring up a good point. the E7 is designed specifically for law enforcement, whereas the chargers/durangos/crown vic/expedition...all passenger cars retrofitted for law enforcement. they are definately onto something.

sounds expensive, and they will have to meet the "bid standards" of municipalities, cities, towns, state, and feds...none of them can ever agree on what they need or don't need...most police cars are purchased from the bidding process, in the 18k-25K range, then equipped which can easily run another 10-12k...so if it is marketed in the fully equipped and ready to rock and roll mode, 36-38K, that would prolly sell, but don't forget, it will have to pass the rigid crash tests to even be considered....Chevy was sued when the first Impala's were implemented for brake failures...Dodge had problems as well...there's a lot that goes into this process...sounds good, but they aren't the first to try this...

I hazard to say my city won't pony-up for a new fleet of these puppies. Even if the cost was comparable to a completed 'Vic, my town likes getting Vics cheap and upgrading "as the budget allows". In other words, by the time it's finished, it has already been in service for two years.

No mention of price, nor whom makes the drivetrain.
Many on the carbon team have Ford motor backgrounds.
It almost looks like they want you to join some strange organization.
Possibly just looking for financing.

This is what I'm talking about.
"Build American" not "Buy American" to quote a certain someone, these guys have a real "plan forward".
Same thing with Tesla motors.
My recommendation is to beef up that partition between the front and rear seats, someone could easily hammer that sucker in.

Niche markets are still competitive for American automobiles. The problem is that American Car Companies can't build cars for the other 99.9% of people who want to buy something OTHER than a niche automobile.
Re: Ford better forget the Crown Vic
I have know about this for a while now. They still do not have an actual car. It sounds great, but I'll believe it when I see it. As far as the crown Vic goes, they were rumored to be dead in the water a couple of years ago and then they started to improve it when the Charger came out. Having had both, the Charger is far superior to the Crown vic in almost every way. I know Old doc has stated he has done 140 in a Crown Vic many times, but that had to be down wind and down hill and it gets scary over 125 due to inferior high speed handling. ( As far as I know, all the new Crowns are speed limited to 125 due to this problem ) The Charger will do 150 all day long and it feels like you are on a Sunday drive. The only drawbacks to the Charger that I can atest to are a severe lag in the trans shift from D to R and really thin sheet metal. (You look at it wrong and it has a dent in it) Other than that, it handles better, has more room, is faster, and gets better MPG than the Crown Vic. The biggest drawback to having fleets replaced is that many fleets, such as ours, do their own maintainance, so they are used to working on the Crown Vic and have many spare parts due to wrecks and cars pulled out of service, thus lowering costs.
