SRT-4 Neon
Re: SRT-4 Neon
Just a week and a half ago, I traded my 04 SRT-4 in for the Xfire. My thoughts:
1. The SRT-4 is MUCH faster than the Xfire. The thing is a speed demon. Dangerously fast.
2. There is no such thing as a chip for the SRT-4. (The eBay chips don't work.) There are Mopar turbo stage upgrades that are very inexpensive $750 - $3,500. The ultimate stage 3 Mopar turbo upgrade will get you about 330 HP on a car that weighs in at 2,900 lbs.
3. The motor is built to take 500 HP - You can push the heck out of a stock one and never hurt the engine.
4. The interior and feel of the car is real cheap.
5. The resale value is crap. (It's a neon. Unless you take great care of it and sell it in 10 years - try to buy a GLH now.)
Bottom line - the SRT-4 is a wonderful car. I loved mine. Best 16 grand I ever spent. Great sleeper car. Value will go down before it goes up again. Driving in the snow with all that torque? Good luck. If I could've afforded to keep the SRT-4, I would have in a heartbeat.
I traded it in because the Crossfire is the nicest - looking car I've seen in a long time. I fell in love with it on a "love at first sight" basis. One day I will probably hate the fact that I gave up my SRT-4 - but not because of the Crossfire - just because the SRT-4 was really FAST!
(I know the guy already bought a Jeep and doesn't need my reply - but I write this for those who will come after and do a search on the SRT-4.)
