In the UK motoring press, it has been announced that DC will be introducing a 3.0 litre Diesel SLK with triple turbochargers. It produces 286 bhp and has more torque than a US Chat Show host. It hits 0-62 mph in 5.3 secs and returns 37.7 miles per UK gallon.

Prices have yet to be announced.

IM guessing one is used to start the larger turbo to spin, kinda like the set up in the mazdaspeed 6.

 

latest road & track. slk 55...wow. 12.8 in the 1/4. 0-60 in 4.5. expensive but fast.

A friend of mine I see at the Gym is getting a AMG SLK55. The only trouble is around here there seems to be a six month wait. They are also charging $7,000 over sticker.

 

They are using the turbos across the range so the smaller ones will spin faster at lower speed reducing lag. The big turbo kicks in once the others are flat out. Looks like the way forward...power and economy.
