Your next car...
My next car will be replacing my Jeep, with a new Jeep. But my next purchase is actually a new Prius for my wife.
Then if my money situation plays out my buddy and I are looking are restoring a 442 and I am looking at snagging a track ready nova from a friend and making it as street legal as possible.
I figure I have dropped 12k into the xfire customizing it and If I get the headers and turbo I will have another $4600 into it. Might as well keep it until I wreck it!

I really love the New Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Wouldn't mind having this one for my next car.

I had a chance to play around with Boss 302, Camaro SS and Challenger 392 Hemi - all with manual gearboxes - at the AutoWeek Fantasy Camp back in May. The Camaro does absolutely zero for me and the Challenger is just too darn heavy. The Mustang just does everything incredibly well, sounds fantastic, and is fantastic value for the money.

Whatever the next car is, it will definitely be something with a larger aftermarket. Probably the next generation Mustang, whenever that comes out. I don't like the current body style.
i live in central cal, so I think I'll have my 06 4-runner (@52k), 03 tacoma (@61k), SRT Graphite metallic (@6.4k), and SRT black (@870 miles) for many years to come.
Somehow, some way, that gt-r is on my mind. I only have room for 4, so one would have to go. Right now, I'm too attached to the crossfires and both toyotas and extremely practical and utilitarian.

I could need a sedan. Or want another sports car. Or keep both the corrado and crossfire and buy a tow vehicle to take the corrado to track days. I'd really like a VW t-reg V6 TDI. But I also like a ton of fun cars as well. I think it might be most reasonable to get car #3 in the end. Any new and/or additional car purchase is likely 3-4 years away though.
When I wrote this I didn't think I'd be selling my crossfire for at least another 3 years. And as you could guess by my name, it would be unlikely that my next car would be something truly domestic.
Well, I've had my "next car" for a couple of months now and since this thread appeared in my inbox this morning, I thought it would be fun to see how I answered this question. My self from back in 2010 would be absolutely shocked to know that my self of today is driving a brand new Mustang GT. Definitely not the looker that the crossfire was, but wow, it's a blast to drive!
The day I got it:

My next car will be a 4 dr Mercedes... Not sure what model yet, but the wife wants a 4dr for the kids and her to ride with me (other than my 2000 camry). So I will take that as an oppurtunity to quit driving mine so much and get a different Mercedes!!!! Honestly for the price and reviews I have read the 2005 C230 kompressor Is seeming like a strong candidate. Its extremely cheap (like the xfire), quick but not fast (like the xfire), more practical than a xfire, and still a Mercedes

My wife's daily driver is a 2007 C350 4-Matic with the large engine. It has around 25,000 miles on it on it now. It really is a nice car. When it was being serviced, I drove one of Mercedes' loaners and it felt like I was driving a totally different car. It was a c250 I think. In my experience, I would not have bought that car. It had a cheap interior and rode poorly without much power.
I just read a review which said that Mercedes has upgraded the C line and now only makes the c250 and c350 without 4Matic. The C350 has a 14 position seat adjustment. That is really a plus for my wife with her bad back. You may want to look at those. I do not know if the 4Matic on my 2007 gives the car such a solid feel to it but maybe that is the case. In my next trip to Phoenix I am going to test drive their new C350 just to see.
Had the chance over the weekend to drive a friend's 2007 S class Mercedes with a 12 clyinder engine. Now that was a nice riding and powerful car.
But when it is all said and done, I still like the looks of the Xfire. I guess my heart is with 2 seater drop tops.

Sorry I just reread your first post and want to add one more thing. I do not know how old you children are BUT when I take the grand kids ages 10 & 8 in the Mercedes there is Not really much room in the back seat. I would rate it a 3 passenger car at best. The four doors help BUT again it is a tight fit in the back seat with booster seats, etc. Just something else to consider.
PS We are not tall people in the front seat.
