Any reason in particular you want to throw your money at the exhaust?

Cheaper than both Magnaflow and Borla, and is modeled after Borla. Won't be much louder than stock, but you won't have an ounce of drone either.

The megan racing muffler is awesome.... My decision was between the MRS and the Ansa mufflers. The ansa was a bit too rich for my blood which is why I went with the MRS. I personally feel there is no other way to go.... The magnaflow and flowmaster mufflers sound cheap and a tad ricier IMHO. The MRS and the ansa are deep and toned... There is drone at 2500-3000 RPM, but you can drown it out with music, the windows down, changing gears or simply going faster/slower.....

Don't know where you are getting that info, but the magnaflow is ANYTHING but ricey, it is a very deep tone that sounds fantastic, but is a little loud and if you don't have a manual, it can get droney. In fact, I think it is noticeably deeper than the Megan...

Huh..... maybe it was the quality of the youtube videos I watched. I used my studio headphones though to tell differences between all of them....

YouTube could ruin the sound of a Gallardo... LOL

The sounds you hear on there are at the mercy of upload quality, microphone used, your speakers, etc.

In person, the Magnaflow system sounds great. Same for the Megan, it's all in how much/little $$$ you want to spend.

IMO the Ansa sounds best but the tips are a bit tricky (unless you like them close together) and the angle of the inlet pipe is a bit harsh (need to run a 90° to avoid hitting the differential).

The Borla, Magnaflow system and OBX system all use gentler bends and OE mounting points, hence the price.

Cheapest is to hack off the muffler and weld a Y-pipe... and it actually sounds superb at WOT, and outside the car.

Yes, that is the one you want. My local shop charged about $250 to install.

I would guess with visits to the Dragon you've probably heard them all at one point or another. Any review for the gutted muffler? I just really like the idea of no drone and would rather keep it totally stock than have it, but the gutted thread states louder and droneless. Thoughts?

The sound of the gutted muffler was roughly the same as the Borla + Resonator... basically, VERY quiet. I can't recall whose car it was (Infinite comes to mind), but I remember them comparing the two mufflers. The Magnaflow catbacks sound great on the Dragon, but many coupe owners complain of a drone.

There's a white one on YouTube that has no muffler and a Magnaflow "glasspack" resonator with a Y-pipe mounted to it. Sounded bloody fantastic in the videos, like an old British sports car. Raspy, but melodious.

Here's the user and the setup:

Would probably drone like crazy... JMO.

I plan on doing resonator delete only... I've been in several SRT's with this performed and this the best compromise between sound and drone.

After about 20 years of it in the Miata.. (stainless glasspack).. I'm pretty much in the keep it quiet if I have to mode to avoid drone. Even stock ones get a little pricey to chop up and play on.. lol.
