IF you buy a set of 4 OR rear shocks from RockAuto, make sure you install the rears first. RA site listed the set of 4 for my Ford Ranger Edge with 4.0L and torsion bar suspension/rear wheel drive was XX. The set of 4 with rebate (a couple years ago, am remembering they were KYB), the rear mounting point on the axle was not the right size to accept the bolt (smaller bushing). I had to send all 4 back because I needed 4 PLUS the rebate was invalid if all 4 were not used (two front with returned 2 rear, equaled NO REBATE). Had to buy a different set of 4 with a higher price. Am glad I tried the rear replacements first, just the one attempted replace was a lot better than having to install fronts then finding out the rears would not work. IF you buy from RA, make SURE you install/use BEFORE the 30 day return they specify on the site. Buyer beware!

I have ordered several times from Rockauto for over 8 years and have never had a problem with them. They always ship items super fast and have reasonable prices.

The problem is the databases are not accurate and it is a problem on lots of sites. Even Bosch says we need two different downstream oxygen sensors when they are identical to the SLK320. Bosch even says the Crossfire will have to use different Bosch iridium spark plugs than the SLK320 and that makes no sense either. Lots of parts websites will say a part for a SLK320 is not compatible with the Crossfire and so forth. Even some sites will say a part is not compatible with a SLK320 but it is.

This is just how it goes when you buy parts online!

"Buyer Beware"!

I have been (and still, very cautiously) buying R/A for more years I can count. Lately, I had three orders damaged in shipment because they box cheaply into the smallest package to limit the CI size, even though they get a HUGE discount for shipping (and still make a profit on their shipping charge charged to us). The time to turn around these damaged shipping items, means more time the vehicle is down.

Another story akin to my first post (#2 below) and your reply, yes, the listings are horrible (and their solution is to limit the time to return NEW ITEMS). A while ago I took advantage (HA!, who took advantage?) of a sale on oil filters for my 01 Ranger Edge P/U (4.0L 245ci GAS MFI vin E SOHC W/ torsion bar suspension), ONLY 4.0L motor used on the US built FACTORY BUILD. I didn't need an oil change, I had just done one a few months earlier (used my last filter, I buy for the future). So it was a while before doing the once-a-year change. I get the pack of 5, next oil chance I pull one out, and it isn't screwing on. Called R/A, emailed R/A, end result it was over their 30 days and I'm stuck with them. I'm not an idiot, the listing was exactly for my engine, the filters came as US threads, my 4.0L was METRIC. NEVER in all the years have I had a problem with getting filters for the P/U (bought in 2003 used still under factory warranty as a prior leased vehicle, changed the oil every year until this fiasco last year). I sent them screen shots of their listing that they were STILL showing as the wrong ones (and were STILL SELLING), that will not fit the 4.0L motor in my Edge. Final dig, after posting complaints I could not log into my account. Somehow something screwed my PW, but did not screw my email, so I logged in and selected 'forgot my PW'.

Order from R/A, take your chances. From NOW ON, anything I order from R/A will be installed OR returned because it was defective or the wrong part BEFORE their time limit. Their customer service is a misnomer, be aware and inspect your orders carefully. Their inability to accept responsibility or change their listings smack of an 'I DON"T CARE ABOUT YOU' attitude when they are wrong in sending a mis-listed part. Once the time limit expires your out of steam EVEN IF THEY ARE AT FAULT in their listings. BUYER BEWARE!
