Are you driving a coupe or roadster ? We are having http://www.autopowerindustries.com build a cage kit for the coupe', but could probably have a roll bar kit made for the roadster as well...

Hi Derek, have you any info on the cage kit, i.e. weld-in or bolt-in and what pieces of trim have to be removed/butchered? I am assuming it is a full race weld-in that fits very closely to the internal structure of the car, picking up on the rear suspension mounts etc.

Thanks,
Simon.

Simon: I've been out of town working on a movie, but flew back to pick-up the car from Auto Power Industries on Wednesday. They did a great job on the roll cage. Bare in mind, mine is full race in a gutted car with NASCAR style door bars, and X brace in the rear.

I asked Rick, the owner to make a template for a bolt-in system incase someone from the forum wanted to install the main hoop in their stock car... I forgot to ask him if he did, when I picked-up the car.

I'll try to snap some pictures and post them before I go back to Texas on Saturday.

PS... I had a dyno done while I was down there... Really depressing... I'll post info in the Engine / Exhaust section.

Good to hear the cage went in well, I can't wait for the pics.

Yes, I think anything other than just a bolt-in main hoop would be impractical for a road/occasional track car - most people don't like the idea of chopping chunks out of their trim. Incidentally Rick's prices looked pretty good when I compared his 911 race cages against what is available over here, even with shipping taken into account.

Here are some photos of the cage... Still have much work to finish on the cockpit, wiring harnesses and metal work as well as painting. Hope to have it done by the end of July.

Looking Good, Derek!

Those door bars look very substantial! Do the front legs drop down through the dash (near where the tweeters used to be) or is that all still intact?

It's an fully integrated cage with a front hoop that wraps around the top of the windshield, side hoops that are welded to the frame where engine firewall meets the frame, rear hoop with X member behind the seat, rear braces that go all the way back to the rear bumper frame and NASCAR style door bars that are welded into the front and rear hoops.

Surprisingly only added 112 lbs to the car. Now it's weighing in at 2,792 lbs.

It's a mess inside still, but I'll be taking care of that in the next few weeks.

I'm still trying to figure out why I've go a CEL after the dyno pull... And how to adjust the FAM so it doesn't run so lean.
