Default #431 Track Ready

Finally finished-up most of the spec. requirements. Still a few minor things to finish, master electrical cut-off switch and fire bottle. The rest of it is cosmetic, interior paint and clean-up, detail work...

I'll upload sound files of the new exhaust system in another post...

How much does it cost to get a number on your car like that?

Those are adhesive vinyl decals. The #' and class were assigned to me by NASA & SCCA, I did the layout in photoshop and had Kinko's print the adhesive vinyl decals. Total was $129.00 for two door #'s, one hood #, two front and rear bumper #'s, four class ID's.

Super Derek...so have you had a chance to weigh it now that you've got the race configuration pretty much done? Thanks for the shot of the bulkhead behind the driver seat...I've wondered if it was a full panel or just a structural member at the window line.

Let us know if it the response if any different with the cage in there!

I had to hack-up the steering wheel because, as usual with this car, there is no after market "quick release" made for this car, so I have to build one myself. also am putting in a switch panel to control the microphone in my helmet two-way radio and possibly a fuel mixture switch (when I can figure out that bit of engineering).

As far as Mid-Ohio... I have already missed three points races this season while I was getting the car track ready. So, I'm going to spend the remainder of this season testing and tuning for a full competitive season next year.

I still have a lot of work to do on the engine... next big projects are Schrick Cams, custom headers and FAM adjustments.

Actually, it's still on the Jenny Craig Plan... :-) I have to remove the framing and windows in the doors, remove the AC condenser that is in front of the radiator. Once I get that done, I'll have it weighed again... I'm guessing a shade under 2,600 lbs.

I was going to run today for the first time since the cage was installed, but wimped-out because the temperature at Willow Springs was expected to be about 108 and I would have just melted the new tires in an hour.

Damn Derek, 2,600 lbs! Geez, that's super...that's gotta put a little pep in the little XF! So with all that weight gone, did the balance change at all/significantly? Keep the news coming...and hopefully some new vids!

Honestly can't tell you about the balance of the car now... I haven't had a chance to drive it in nearly three weeks. It's no longer street legal and with the new racing exhaust (loud as crap) I wouldn't dare taking it out... I have to wait for the next track event... I guess that's the downside of turning it into a track car...

Firebase D: You DA man, I'm just a knucklehead that wants to turn his little Crossfire into a road warrior...
