Yeah, I've owned 3 Miata's before so going down that path was a serious consideration. I just like the looks of the coupe better.

The more I think about a base seat I like it. I might even be able to modify the factory bracket and not have to modify the seat pad.

So, what do you guys think? Can I lower the base model seat enough to get 1.5" of headroom? I don't have a base model to look at, but looking at my Limited I believe it can be done. Opinions are appreciated.

Have you checked out the passenger seat? I think that might be lower due not having the extra adjustment mechanism on the base (4 way, not 6 way like the driver's side) It should be fairly simple to swap them over...
