Formula 1 Racing
That last bit in your post is exactly what I'm hoping for. I hope Hamilton and Massa bite each other once more in China and that would be enough for Kubica to catch up for Brazil to make it a clean 3 way race.
And your right about those penalties, Hamilton did that "thing" in turn 1 lap 1 and that happens all the time, it was over aggressive but not penalty deserving IMO. Same thing with Bourdais, it was in no way his fault, he was there, and so was Massa, they touched, it happens, it was light, and Bourdais had no other choice.
And going off from that is the "incident to be reviewed after the race" thing...that is the most ultra BS thing. They had a bunch of laps to quickly decide. I feel it was the stewards seeing what would benefit Massa the most. I like Ferrari but I dont like the fact that it does seem that stewards and FIA seem to be "helping" them.

I'm impressed with Formula1. Due to all the controversy they posted up a nice quality version of the 3 main incidents that caught so much attention:

After rewatching all of these a few thoughts:
1. First corner, what a flat spot, I think Hamilton was overanxious, not sure if he deserved the penalty or not to be honest, dont know the regulations that much and how they apply to the first corner.
2. Massa did not deserve the penalty going by the logic from the stewards previous decisions, which, well, thats questionable. Consistence isn't their strongest point.
3. Bourdais, NO WAY IN HELL did he deserve that penalty. That was a blatantly bad call.

Bottom line - Hamilton and Massa are fighting for the biggest prize in motor sport. Let 'em fight. If one is overzealous - Hamilton at turn 1, Massa in the chicane against Hamilton - then they run the very real risk of taking themself out of contention. So be it, if they want to be that dumb.

Agree 100% percent. Based on my comment above, Massa was way overzealous at a point where he certainly did not need to be. No way he did NOT see Bourdais exiting the pits so he could have avoided this incident easily. Stupid move on his part, and Bourdais pays the penalty. Hell, he was up on the curbs at a corner where usually you aren't. How much more "out of the way" should he get?

FFSA cancels 2009 French Grand Prix
By Pablo Elizalde Wednesday, October 15th 2008, 18:23 GMT
The French motorsports federation announced on Wednesday that it will not promote the race in 2009 due to financial difficulties.
"For reasons related to the financial situation, the Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile (FFSA) has decided to cancel the Grand Prix of France," said the FFSA in a statement.
"The FFSA would like to thank all customers who attended the Grand Prix of France and have supported this international event in recent years."
The French race was on the calendar announced earlier this month by the FIA for the 2009 season.
The decision leaves the 2009 calendar with 17 races after the Canadian Grand Prix was also absent from the schedule.

Massa on pole, Hamilton outside row two. Wow, he could actually blow it again this year!
In all honesty, I'm pulling big time for Massa right now. I really like this guy and would love to see him take it all, especially on his home track.
I must say I was quite impressed that in the first qualifying session the difference between 1st and 15th place was barely a full second. That is truly amazing since Formula 1 is so equipment diverse with everyone building their own chassis and there being such a wide variety of engines. Even IndyCar with their essentially spec racing setup can barely manage that.

I'm not a huge Massa fan but I do love Ferrari (#2 to BMW) and hope Hamilton runs into issues. Reliability has rarely been an issue for McLaren past few years but this year last few races a few incidents did occur. I am hoping that since Hamilton is on his 2nd engine maybe its a weaker engine.
But your last paragraph almost perfectly quoted what Bob Varsha said today on the speed channel, less then a second differance. One thing I want to point out about that, thats never happened before because either Honda or Force India were always 2-3 seconds off.....did you guys notice that Force India is caught up a tad?
But also keep in mind this track is very short, 1:11 lap times.

This will a good race so long as they dont screw it up on the first lap - as a Brit Im rooting for Hamilton, but Masa would be a deserving winner. Its been a good year for the sport, and about time too! Its forcast rain, so it may be a case of who stays on the black stuff!

Last race, last lap, last corner...no other sport can deliver. Wow.
Glock's move was great, just 3 seconds quicker and it would have all been different.

What exactly did happen to Glok, he was holding his position well - then suddenly lifted his right foot on the last third of the last lap. Even with the wrong, or shot tyres he would not have dropped from 5th to 7th in just 500 yards, and no explanation in ther media after the race. Was he told to lift, and let Hamilton through?

He was on dry tires, dry tires don't work AT ALL on the wet. Up until the last lap it wasn't raining that hard. No way, Glock would rather that Massa would win. Neither Glock nor Vettel knew what was going on.
That was a nail biter. I was rooting for Hamilton and thought it was over when Vettel overtook and then got on a run. I was shocked as well to see Glock let of on the home stretch.
