Default Opened the cutouts!

I had a track event on Sunday and decided to see what would happen with the cutouts open. They were good for .6 seconds a lap. My run group has faster cars in it than the next higher class so no trophy for me. With the Forgestars, new tires and open cutouts, I improved over 4 seconds a lap. Enjoy the music.

Great video Les, it looks like a lovely track and perfect weather to match. Car sounds great with the cut outs open. Keep up the good work.

John.

Nice throaty sound. 35 degrees right now, and we're still about a month before our first event. "Living vicariously through Les"!

Great video! I looks a little tight in the corners. A stiffer rear sway bar might help that. I will be in PR for the day in a couple of weeks. What is fun to do there?

Here's a link to some photos of the event. http://www.carrito.net/board/showthr...-13-Marzo-2011

I'm still having issues with the rear of the car not sticking like it should. The front is sticking but the back wants to drift out. Based on the tire pyrometer readings I have too much negative camber in the rear. I only have -1º so I believe what's going on is that on a lowered car the distance the suspension is compressed results in a larger geometric increase in negative camber. I plan on trying even less or none at all to see what the results are.

If your only going to be here 1 day you should keep it simple. I'd suggest a visit to Old San Juan. The walled city is unique with it's forts. El Morro is the large fort at the entrance to the harbor and is interesting to tour. If your here on a Wednesday I could take you to a small track and we could pull some G's!

I will be there Tuesday March 29th arriving on Celebrity Cruises Solstice. I used the K-Mac Camber kit which has a good range of adjustment of both camber and toe. On a lowered car you also get more toe change as the suspension compresses.

No racing possibilites on a Tuesday. The ships dock in Old San Juan so you can take the free trolly to the fort or walk. The Bacardi distillery is across the harbor and has a tour. I've never taken it myself but you have to take the Cataño ferry to get there. El Yunque is nice but it's a trip. Celebrity Solstice .... nice! They should have good recommendations.

Toes in or toes out on a lowered car? I've run with 1/8" toe out, 0 toe and 1/8" toe in and for me the toe in works best. My race alignment expert wants to use 0 toe and more negative camber in the rear. I want to use less negative camber and more toe in.

I assume you are using the infrered pyrometer. I would be making changes to get even temps accross the tire. Thanks for the travel tips!

Infrared? Never! I went and bought a Longacre memory probe pyrometer. I couldn't make heads or tails of the results before. With the wide rims and properly supported tires it's really obvious. Would anyone be interested in a picture of the tire wear after 1 event? Looking at the rear tires you can tell I have too much negative camber ..... but since when is -1º a lot? That's why I now believe that 1" of compression on an un lowered car results in a moderate increase in negative camber but 1" on compression on a lowered car results in drastic negative camber increase. I can think of no other explanation.
