Default Newb needs drag racing advice

So I have an '05 Limited N/A 6spd and here in Guam we have a drag strip that is right outside the base, and it's $50 for an annual membership with unlimited passes on the strip, they also have drifting and autocross events occasionally.

So since I'm a newb and this is the first time that I've been racing off the streets I have a few questions to get my time down.
I have Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 265's in the back and KDW 225's in the front.

What RPM should I be at to take off? I've been staying around 2500 because the staging area is crap here.

Also, what RPM should I be shifting at?

With the variables of the track I've been told to take a second off your time and you'll be close to what you would get on a real track.

My best time is a 16.2 at 87-ish mph. <<Fun side note I beat my friend's 370Z 6spd.

Any advice from the veterans would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day.

SHELBY, 1st. just want to thank you for your service to our Country.
Your car is running about a second slower than a "stock" automatic normally runs on a "good" track.
Magazine roadtest from back when the Crossfire debuted, put the 6 sp at 14.7 to 14.8 with a 15.18 for the automatic coupes.
I'm not sure, but I think I remember reading that the magazine testers launched at around 2800RPM, and shifted just before reaching redline so they didn't accidently set off the rev limiter.
What exactly are the variables at the track that's causing your slower than normal times?
Glad to hear you were able to beat a 370 Z, not sure exactly how you did it, but it's good to hear.

Thanks for the help. I beat my friend just because I had a good start, so the race was actually over before we passed the first 60ft. His quarter mile time was much faster than mine but I still made it to the end before him.

As far as the variables, the track is just old and the staging area is really slick and warped, in Guam they mix sea shells and coral with the asphalt which doesn't help at all. I've also heard that the timing is off. I'll post some updated times on this thread next time I go.

Sure would be awesome if I don't have the buy the cable as well, I have the bluetooth adapter I use for Torque Pro, I don't see why I can't use it. I'll ask them, but I'm sure they'll say I have to buy the darn cable.

Island asphalt. Humid environment. Just to mention a few things. But all cars will be equal. They suffer the same environment. Practice will make you faster. Once you know you are getting every ounce of performance out of the car. Then you mod then you tune to the mods.

Does your laptop have bluetooth? because I'm doubting you'll be able to use their software on your phone..

but the cable should come with the tune already anyway

That's good news ! I got my tune AND cable last year during the $300 sale ....
Is anyone making up a list of 10 ? ( not that I am interested, as I already have mine )
Should be quite a few jump on this from some of the recent threads I have seen.

That should be for a manual transmission car. If the torque converters are the same as a SRT6/AMG, then you won't be able to brake stall above about 1800 RPM, which is fine. I usually launch the auto around 1400 RPM.

With the clutch down, you can mash the gas and the RPMs will settle around 4200. If you're brave, feel free to drop the clutch and enjoy some wheel spin... I've had better luck launching at lower RPMs than that, though... but I also haven't been to a track and would still consider myself a novice when it comes to driving a 6 speed at its best

Don't forget a new differential while your shopping for replacement parts.

And to be clear, I am not recommending that method though I have myself tried it myself a few times but found better 0-60 times (per the Torque Pro app) launching at a lower RPM

Thanks, I'll be sure to post results once I can get out to the track again, it may be a few weeks since I'm moving right now and working on getting my wife here. Also I'll probably need permission from her.

UPDATE:

So today I went to the strip again and right off the bat got a 15.9 and after a bit of tweaking I got down to 15.5!

I was so excited, my goal was to just hit 15.9 since my best prior was 16.2. Thank you everyone for all your help.
