1/2 mile at Roosevelt Roads
The bad. One of the first cars to go down the strip hit the brakes in the timing section and ripped up the cables and ended up with the photocells wrapped around the axels. NO TIMES! They spent a lot of the day trying to get something to work but no success. I was in line all day long for 3 passes. The first was with a S2000. Easy meat, right? NOT. 860 hp at the rear tires. I'm surprised it was as close as it was. Next they lined me up with a MB Wagon. Idiots. But I had time to watch my speedometer and crossed the 1/2 mile marker at over 145 mph. Then I entered the pits and taped up the car including the grill area. After 2 hours in line they lined my up with a 2012 Mustang 5.0. He rolled his eyes and wanted to run anybody but me. He was told my car was fast, he was like, yeah right. He spun more than I leaving the line so I was in front from the beginning. Not much change in distance until 4th gear where I started really opening the distance. After being in line so long we didn't care about rules much so on the return we went from a roll. He got a jump and we ran side by side until 4th where I erased his slight lead and pulled ahead. Needless to say, he's still muttering and hoping no one saw what happened.
This was the first event for a new organization and it failed for me but promises a lot. Now that they have one under their belt, I think future events are going to be fantastic. Unfortunately, the one today was a total fiasco in my opinion. I think I have a video (learning the new camera) of the second pass. Tomorrow I'll post it .... if anything is actually on the camera.
At this airport we ran with a tailwind and the track is level from start to finish. After the tape I was too busy watching the Mustang fall back to notice the mph crossing the line. I really wanted to see how much of a difference the tape made but I was too sadistic with the Mostang. I know he was modded but no clue as to specifics.

LMAO....weather here just will not cooperate. I was busy Saturday so I put off working on the car till Sunday....It has rained and cool all day... I need to finish this damn coupe and get some times... Hurt my right shoulder...so that has limited my work.... Restricted on what I can do... That is a good mph for the 1/2...

AND .... my gosh it was a hot one today. The car's outside temperature reading was 110º. I think ambient was 90º. The track in Aguadilla starts slightly down hill and finishes slightly up hill and is into the wind. Roosevelt Roads (todays) is flat and level and we had a slight tail wind. No words for how badly I wanted official times. I had the usual goofs asking about the car. Is it a turbo or supercharged? Supercharged ..... Vortech or Procharger? Factory .... your kidding .... right? After posting my complaints about todays event all participants were offered a 50% discount on the next 1/2 mile and the next drag rental for free. (while waiting in line the sponsers cars ran again, and again, and again ...) And they made extra efforts to please the spectators while the participants missed lunch and baked in the sun. But most of the wrong wasn't directly their fault, but they were ill prepared to say the least and the racers were the ones that got screwed. And were the ones that payed the most.

I think this caused the question to be asked.
After being in line so long we didn't care about rules much so on the return we went from a roll.
Lots of statesiders have served at Roosevelt Roads which is where I think the question came from but regardless of my confusing manner of storytelling, the runways are for C130 transports and the like so you can imagine how long and wide the runways and taxiways are. We were told to keep it under 100 on the return taxiway so we only bent the rules a little.

I added a video of the second pass to the first post. Check it out! Video proof of an early shift to second gear caused by spinning, for the non believers out there. I was watching the speedometer and from past events I know it lags a little and I saw a hair more than 145 at the marker. The last pass I taped off the grill which should have added a few mph but, no official times, just my word ... or hallucinations.

Great video, I have not heard of a 1/2 mile drag before. We had 1/4 mile drags on the short cross runway once in 2 years.
Beautiful place,
thanks,
John
