Hit the 1/4 today - New Personal Best on everything! :)
I hit the track today with Steve (his lady Kyle), Bill, and Erin. They can post up the details of their perspective runs when they get a chance. Steve's in the 11's and Bill and Erin were running low 12's.
Here's the slips, photos, and a video of Steve's run. I don't have any videos of my races.
I'm 1.7 tenths or .170 seconds behind Jim's V8 Monster.
By the way, my second run was a 11.04 with a 1.57 sixty footer!

Thanks Les. It's a little bittersweet, as I'm having an issue and I know the car would have been 10's without it. The car is falling on it's face from 2nd to 3rd, as you can see below. It stalls for a 1/4 to 1/2 second.

Oooo that's weird and scary. The 1/4 mile is not my priority but I know how hard it was to hit 11's so for me 11 flat is fantasy land. The best part? Still faster than Steve! FTS Grip!

Poor Steve. He's got a ghost in the system, and until he finds it he'll be prey. Once he finds and corrects it, I'll be the prey.
I've run up there myself and feel your pain.
maybe the driver is the biggest mod you need.
you may want to put some glasses on les. or maybe relearn how to add. not only is an 11.6 @ 123 faster than your best 1/4 mile time but my slk32 time of 11.93 is faster than your best time. soooo i guess all my cars are faster than yours with every mod you could possibly toss at it.

And by the way, you guys see the glass half full, whereas I see it half empty. By that I mean, you say FTS (Faster Than Steve), but the whole time I'm thinking STJ (Slower Than Jim).
At times I think it's going to be impossible to catch him, and knowing his long-term plans that's definitley the case. However, it would be nice to leap frog the V8 this year if only for a week or two.

well !!!!
what's wrong, I did say the 10's didn't I?,,, for the 3 thousands of a second you would give a weels pay, but you don't have to cause next trip to the track you will run in the 10's / great job on that 60" and your best so far.
Oh! in this case i love being the one that says " I told you so the 3/27 gears is great " and for out car a 3.55 would be the best. any thing higher and we would be doing 4500 rpm at 70mph
congrads on the best ever 60' for a crossfire. jim

Thanks Jim. Hopefully I'll get the bugs worked out and hopefully at least hit 10's this year.
I didn't mean to step on your accomplishments Steve. The 1/4 mile is not my kind of racing and I'm not good at it. Better than I was? Sure. And good enough to realize how hard it is to go fast in a real fast car. From far far away it seems you and Anthony are friendly rivals. I have a friend in a Yellow MR2 and we joke around all the time. Right now I'm faster than Billy (yellow MR2) and he keeps spending money trying to beat me and keeps breaking. Good man, yellow car, always apart, more power, always slower. I'll let you know when he gets his car right and wipes the track with me. He's got the car to do it with already. Different people, similar story. I see the irony.
I'm glad Grip's not giving up on this platform. You hear Grip? Keep getting more out of it. Jim too!

No Disrespect for for anyone, we all do the same ragging on others for what they do and don/t do.that just makes us do more.
again congratulations grip, I expect 2 C U in the tens pretty soon, and i want to see u do that in 85 degree weather like i di ,my 10.85 the temp was 85. and that was at 10:18 pm at night. . jim
Jim I agree, 3.55's would be a great "all round" gear to use. But for drag racing, wouldn't 3.91's be so much better?
I know you guys are using low profile DR's on the strip, but if you had a pair of 285/40/19's for the highway, even with a 3.91 gear you would only be turning 3052 RPM's at 65 mph.
Tire Size Calculator - Compare Tire Sizes
Like I've said before, I have 3.73's in my AMX with no overdrive, and have had no problems driving as far away as Daytona Beach.
Grip I can't wait until you break into the 10's, then listen to all the wise-a$$ remarks from the Supra boyz.
Congrats on your latest times.
I am going with whatever I can find that Rudy can make work. LOL. Period. If it's 3.91 I think having a 5 th gear will help on the highway. Can't do 170 safely anyway. But 150 quickly might be more fun.
There has to be an old abandoned drag strip in TN somewhere we can rent. I can't find any active strips thru NHRA anyway. Maybe even north GA. It would be nice to have a day we could all play where the drive was about the same for making the trip. I know I can go down to beach bend no problem but to have Jim and bigkid and others to be able to make it would be a fun day.
awesome times, congratulations for sure! im picturing the crowd of people around your car after the run wondering what just happened, lol.
Hell yea!
I might give it another shot this weekend if it's dry out.
That sounds fun.
Thanks Rob. I'm still sporting those NW gauge decals.
