Tips? - Preparation for Road Course Lapping
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to take my 2004 Chrysler Crossfire to the road course for some lapping sessions. I’m not aiming to set fast lap times—just want to enjoy the experience and make sure the car can reliably complete each 20-minute session without issues.
So far, I know I’ll need to upgrade or check:
Are there any other essentials you'd recommend for a reliable and safe track day? Cooling? Suspension tweaks? Any weak points on the Crossfire I should watch out for?
Appreciate any tips or advice from others who’ve tracked their Crossfires (or SLK320s)!
Thanks in advance!

Now, my race car doesn't have any of those things, but for the conventional cars, they do check that stuff. Also, be sure your doors are unlocked, and your front grill over the tow hook is removed. My car (race car) has none of that.
Here's a picture from a car show. My website is no longer, but Google "V-Storm WR3" and you'll see plenty of photos. Dan Carpenter bought the rights to the design. I had it shipped over from the UK where it was built. I run in SCCA class E Modified.
Make sure you are comfortable in your helmet. They can get annoying if it's a bad fit.
Air gauge and torque wrench, Maybe a small compressor which will be left in the pit area so best to have a friend keep a eye on your cooler, sandwiches etc.

When I autocross my race car, they have you remove floor mats, trunk mat, tire tools, anything in glove compartments, etc... no loose objects at all.

Thank you. I've got it all torn apart right now, we're replacing the fuel pump, sending unit, and cleaning the tank as I let it sit too long and the ethanol gas ruined everything. Very embarrassing. They literally build the tank and then build the car around the tank. Seriously.
