Well I guess I'll start here. Another great weekend with friends and great weather! Excellent turn out and many many great looking cars. Be sure to check out the local photography websites to see your car in action.
I don't think it is proper for CICCI to come along and think they can just take over an event that has been going on for nearly 10 years. Not everyone is a member nor do they want to be. Why does CICCI want to fix something that is not broke? We have been doing fine without you all these years. This weekend has been more confusing than any I attended in the past.
Here are some of my photos. I hope everyone will post some for others to see, or borrow.

Sorry to hear that you felt CICCI was too involved and/or controlled the planned activities during the weekend. I do know that it's a good thing that there is a planning committee trying to lay out activities for the weekend. And I like the prospect of taking XFire road trips that are focused on something other that just running ToD and/or pursuing "spirited" driving. Your perspective on this past weekend will be interesting to watch to see if others felt the same way.
If I remember correctly, I think CICCI was involved back when the group ate at the dining hall down near the entrance. By involved, I think CICCI anted up funds to cover meat (burgers & hot dogs) purchase and all the fixings. Everyone brought something for the buffet spread inside and we chowed down to a great meal. Only issue was those that handled the grillin' never got any relief and ended up missing out on eating in the dining hall with friends. But beyond that, I don't believe CICCI was involved otherwise. I think it is a good thing to have the Saturday evening group dinner as a catered event. Just wasn't the same atmosphere during years when everyone was "on their own" for dinner on Saturday evening.
I would hope that CICCI would be involved but at an arm's length going forward so those that don't belong to CICCI would not feel any pressure to join CICCI, would still feel welcome and continue to attend future ToD events.
Looks like folks had a good time. There were a lot of smiling faces in your pictures.

I second James thoughts
.My decision was correct not to participate in the catered Dinner, and plan something for others who had the same opinion.Sometimes less organizing is more.To much control is not good.I hope we all learn from this experience.See you in spring with hopefully less drama

Hello all . . .
Cindy and I enjoyed a great visit to Fontana Village again. Seeing old friends and making some new friends. This was our FIFTH Fall TOD and it hasn't gotten old for us yet! Thanks to all who attended this year.
I feel the need to respond to some criticism of CICCI's efforts in stepping up to sponsor the Tail of the Dragon events . . .
During my brief time serving as the elected President of CICCI, I was instrumental in prodding the Board of Directors to provide some financial support to organized Crossfire events around the country INCLUDING the Spring and Fall Tail of the Dragon events. One of the most consistent complaints I heard about CICCI when I was running for the office of CICCI President was that the club did not "give back" anything or provide any clear benefit to its members. CICCI's intention is certainly not to "take over" the event but rather to be a sponsor providing some give away items and putting on one of the evening meals.
Have the results been perfect so far ? ? ? maybe not . . . but personally I applaud the positive intentions and the positive efforts of those trying to better organize and add something to our Crossfire events. Nothing happened there that can't be fine tuned to make it better for future Crossfire Get-To-Gethers. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Look at the big picture . . . We ALL have a love of our Crossfires and enjoy attending events where we can gather in a fun location and get to know / mingle with other Crossfire owners. Putting on these events requires some dedicated people who invest ALOT of their time and effort to plan and execute those plans. Just sayin' . . .

You can hear a pin drop in here!!!!!
Why are people not commenting on how much of a great time they had at the Dragon?
I know 1000's of pics were taken, along with video, why aren't they posted yet?
It seem's this event lost it's luster?

Need to round up the all those rowdy boys for the spring dragon. I might need bail money. Time to return to the scene of the crime people. I think we were pushing 70 XFs at one event. But, hey, what is done at the dragon, stays at the dragon I guess.
Re: 10th Annual Fall 2016 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - Sept 30, Oct 1, 2
This was my first Dragon and the one run we went on we enjoyed. As well as a diner run to Tapoco that kept Sunday from being a total bust. We went to bed Saturday night with the understanding that we would meet in the lobby at 9:00 to figure out the day's run(s). When we came down to the lobby at 8:30 everyone had left. The white board had a message to meet at 8:30 at a place we had never heard of. Remember this was our first time at Fontana Village. Thanks to a message from Mary Diaz posted about a diner run to Tapoco for dinner we were able to enjoy the company of some really great people.
I would strongly suggest that in the future volunteers that have been to the event several times take the first timers under their wing and help them to plan their weekend runs. Just a thought.....
