Default New Road Rally

Congratulations to the DFWXfires Team for coming in 5th in the team competition in the
Mountain Creek Classic Rally! All four cars finished with respectable scores.

The next SCCA roadrally will be held in September. The DFW Map Rally, presented
by Mapsco, will run on Saturday, September 6th. The flyer is attached.

This rally will be much easier, and much different, from the Classic. You will be given a
special map, prepared for us by Mapsco, and some rules. Using those rules, you will
determine your own route, and write your own route instructions. Then you will
drive that route. There is no complicated "Main Road" rule for this event!

This was the most popular event in the 2007 SCCA Regional RoadRally Championship Series.

Thumbs up Littlewing and myself are in

Littlewing and myself are signed up.

There is a good reason for signing up early. At the last Rally you started according to your sign up number. The earlier you start the sooner you finish giving you more time to visit with the other rally teams as they come in. I for one would just as soon be an early car out.

You guys did sign up as "Masters" correct?

We're signed up too. And now, (I can't believe I'm saying this) I hope it doesn't rain.

Default Great I hope you don't get lost

Great! I am glad you signed up ahead of us. Now we have someone to follow. Promise me you will not get lost.

Now we just need one more DFWXFire member to sign up. Three cars can run as a team. I put down DFWXFires as the team name when I signed up. What did you put down as a team name? I believe we can declared a team at the start.

We're never lost. We just take scenic detours (but stay away from gravel roads).

christine,

They just emailed the General Instructions to all that have registered. You should be just fine with you 4 appointment. Last months rally closed at 3pm and most were finished by 1-2pm. And, the General Instructions for this rally show it ending at Carino's Italian Grill in Lewisville! Hope we see you tomorrow and everyone else that can make it.

Thanks. I think I lost my navigator, so I probably won't make it. I'll start recruiting a navigator now for the next one.

Christine, I have someone else who has lost his rally partner for Saturday. He is a long-time friend of mine, an SCCA member, and a good rallyist. He is going to come Saturday morning to work the rally, but I would just as soon have him run. I don't know if he would like to run with someone other than his wife, but I can ask. If you want me to, please email me at rally@texasscca.org.

If not, maybe we will see you on October 4th for our next rally.

OK....
How frustrating was that!!! How many Vistas did you count?!? Maybe the map thing isn't for us. It was nice meeting all of you. Look forward to seeing you at the next GTG.

VERY! We counted about 5 million Vistas. The most frustrating part for us was in the previous leg where we were to map out a route where road names covered up the roads (although I think we did pretty well).
It was nice meeting you too. We look forward to seeing ya'll at the GTG.

Default Not good

OK our team didn't do too well at the Rally today. If our newest members Shelly & Patti hadn't came through with a place in First Timers we would have been skunked.

Littlewing and myself never really figured out the instructions. We did find the resturant for lunch and awards. The best thing I did in the Rally was buy a couple of items at the start point from Mapsco for 30% off.

Since the first rally we ran last month was so much fun I am in favor of trying another rally before giving up on them. Hopefully the next one the DFWXCrossfires enter is one that is written so most of us can understand it.
