Second Oklahoma Meet
Hello everyone out there in crossfireland.
The first ever Oklahoma meet went extremely well. We had nine deliberate attendees and one good sport passerby who parked with us for our photo-taking. Seven came from the OKC area, and two from the Tulsa area.
If we want to have another get together before the weather becomes unpredictable, we should start planning now. Although Pops was a great destination for meeting everyone, I think our next meet should somehow involve driving our cars.
A couple of suggestions resound in my memory of the event.
1. Driving our crossfires somewhere as a group
2. Choosing a location between OKC and Tulsa
3. Finding some twisty roads
I bet some of you have had experiences with other car/motorcycle clubs or driving/riding enthusiasts in the area. Does anyone out there have any recommendations?

I was thinking.....Pops proved to be a good rendezvous point. We could meet there at 01:00PM again, drive east to somewhere else famous along 66 at 01:30, and eat. Then when we are done, we all go back to Tulsa/OKC. This idea hinges on finding another cool place along 66, which I have not been able to find.
I will be driving from Tulsa to Edmond tonight, and Edmond to Tulsa tomorrow, so I will have my eyes peeled for any other eastward interesting place.
I found this site, which mentions some roads less traveled in Oklahoma.

Just a suggestion... the OKC area group could meet in Arcadia (Pop's) and caravan to Stillwater. The Tulsa area group could meet in Sand Springs (location to be determined) and caravan to Stillwater.
Perkins Restaurant & Bakery is not a "famous" or unique location but they would have adequate parking and would probably be able to seat us in a private room for a meal. They are located on the southeast corner of Hall of Fame Avenue & Main Street. (just east of the football stadium)
Eskimo Joe's is another option but would be almost impossible to park together and seating would be a challenge. The atmosphere is also louder making it more difficult to visit.
Like I said at the beginning, just a suggestion. I will defer to the experts.

You are right about Eskimo Joes. Considering the number of people we had last time, Eskimo Joes would give us a long table like the one we had at Pops. With the noise level I've experienced there, I agree, communication downtable would be impossible. Mexico Joes or Joseppi's may be better choices. (If they are still open)
We could then go to Boomer Lake for some more car photos.

That sounds awesome, but I will be in Wisconsin visiting relatives and friends on the 22nd...
Unfortunately, not with the Crossfire - we are taking both dogs with us.
I've decided to go to the Texas Speedway meet with the Crossfires from Texas. If anyone is interesting in caravaning, let me know.

Any of the above!
I would prefer some twisty roads but after your trip to the Dragon, you may be twisted out!

I use to be with Nismokc and we would go to the track for our mouthly meets. We would usually meet somewhere with a large parking lot then go as a group. Also we all had club stickers to show all who we were. Thats my suggestions.

I'm not a racer, but was toying with the idea of going to the Hallet Motor Racing Circuit:
http://www.hallettracing.net/
It's a 1.8 mile road track near Tulsa - might be interesting - my main goal was to find a place to go 150mph legally...but even if I didn't drive it, I would enjoy watching others. I know that I probably wouldn't run on a 1/4 mile track, but I would be interested in going with the group...

If it's Hallett, I would be interested.

Looks like there is a $35.00 charge for license and $95.00 for the day, you get five, 15 minute sessions and you can carry 1 passenger. They do the HST (High Speed Touring) about once a month.

We need to find out when the track is open, I'm sure it is closed for the winter right now. Also i could probably ask my old club to go at the same time if you want some challengers.
I hope we can all get together soon. Had a great time at POPS. Looks like Hallet is closed till the middle of Feb. I don't want to wait that long for another meet. How about a drive to one of casinos in OK. North, south, east or west. Big parking lots, pretty good food.and a bunch bunch of Crossfire people.
Lets do something before the holidays.
