I like it when a plan comes together. Of course the route Sandy's plan applies mainly for us from the South and maybe some from the North. Those from the East plan their own route. I was wondering, why so late in the day, at dinner time they may be busy and parking is not much.

No particular reason. I don't want to get going too early since it is my summer vacation and I know it will be light for 3-4 more hours after we eat, so we get to cruise after dinner. I actually thought I'd be going alone. I'm glad we may have a good turnout! Originally, I did not want to conflict with Houston's 'Coffee and Cars". The 4 pm time allows Houstonians time to enjoy their morning and then come to Winchester for steaks!

Just wondering, I don't think missing a Coffee and Cars is a big deal as a GTG that involves a trip and meal. If we arrive at 4, take into account the time at Murphy's about 2 hrs and do twisties takes time (are there some close) some of us are not staying for the night and a 2 hrs or so to drive back home. However, this may happen.

Regardless of your travel plans, we'll plan to eat at Murphy's Steakhouse at 4pm (204 Thomas St, Winchester, Tx)

Ater we eat, we can drive some of the twisties in the area, and some (see crossfireconv08's posts) are spending the night in La Grange for more driving and fellowship the next day.

I will call in the reservations (for about 16?), so if you aren't on the list, please let me know.
I'm going for sure. Count me in for two in the reservation at Murphy's (me and the wife). We plan to meet you guys at the designated spot in San Marcos for 2pm.

Now, if I can just get out there and replace that steering damper before Saturday, my drive will be that much more enjoyable...

You would think being there hasn't been many GTG's in the last few months, there would be more participation when someone does put one together. With all the Crossfire owners in San Antonio, Austin and Houston only a few have signed on. You new owners in the area, this is an opportunity to show your car, socialize, have fun and make friends.

Bill - you were probably right about doing the meal earlier, but it is irrelevant, now. I made reservations for 12 of us at 4 pm. I expect to have a great time, and if anyone still wants to sign up, let me know. The reservations are in my name: Sandy. I tried to put the reservations in the name: 'Crossfire', but that seemed to confuse them.

Just wanted to bring this up again to promote this for Sandy and hopefully to get more participation.

More discussion about the GTG at Murphy's Steakhouse is on this thread concerning the route to cruise, any suggestions would help Sandy so we don't have to wing it. July 13, San Antonio Cars & Rides

Default Murphy's Steaks AND 3 Sisters - Had a great time!

My wife and I had a great time meeting Sandy and Terri, Bill and Sampie, and Dave (Dtinker) and Carman for a great drive to Murphy's and then a drive through Beuscher and Bastrop State Parks.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture Dtinker's roadster before we parted ways after the great steak dinner at Murphy's but I did get to catch a couple of snapshots as we drove throught the parks and stopped at the ranger station.

Here's Bill F, GGuillot, and Sandy's Crossfires at the ranger station:

Here's a couple pics of Sandy's XFire leading the pack through the Buescher State Park:

All in all, it was a great day - meeting new folks, good conversation over a great steak dinner and a great ride through some interesting scenery.

Looking forward to next time!
