I'd like to be there, the earlier the better in October: 13th or 20th sounds good.

I'm surprised that nobody has asked what a meet and great is. I guess I must have been a bit tired after a long day at work and it should have said meet and greet. I also sent out about 40+ pm's to members around the state and I didn't even get any of the newer members asking. I just saw that I even started this thread as meet and great. I guess that could almost be a true definition since our last meet was great.

I know, this was a meaningless post!!

I think the real truth is that we are all looking to do something/anything with our XFires and are searching for the person who will put something together for a GTG. Apparently everyone had so much fun at the Orlando GTG that word has spread. YOU ARE THE MAN! You are the Florida leader.

Build it and we will come.

The first weekend in November there is a convention in Ocala at the Don Garlits Museum. Food for thought.

http://www.garlits.com/

I just spoke with Peggy and it is Nov 3 and 4. It is sponsored by Florida Mopar. She mentioned that if we give her at least a two week notice that she would send us the paperwork for our club involvement. Whatever that means.

MORE FOOD FOR THOUGHT TOY.

Attention.... Anyone who read the post that I had writen before please disreguard. I must of been having a major brain fart or something because I can't make it the weekend that I posted. It's looking like the weekend of Oct 13th is going to be the correct weekend. I just have to verify that date is still available at the place I have in mind. I'll try to do that tomorrow.

I apoligize to everyone who read it before I could correct myself.

Gator, You'll be able to go to the FL/GA game after all!!

John

NOOO!!! That's FL/GA weekend and I'll be in Jax.

FSU is off the 13th.
UF has an away game.
UM has a home game playing Tech (not a vital game).
USF and UCF play each other the 13th.

The 13th is the best date for Florida football schools, well for UF and FSU since those are the only schools that matter.

I think getting together on Ocala for the Florida Mopar show is the best way to go because it gives us time to get together as well as be able to hang out with the rest of the mopar crowd and show activities.

Sorry for chiming in late but i knew there was still some time.

I looked up the info on the Fla Mopar Show at the Don Garlits museum in Ocala and that looks like it should be a great show. This is a two day show on Sat Nov 3rd and Sun Nov 4th. The show times are 8 am to 4 pm. There is a fee for spaces to display the Crossfires. We would have to determine exactly how many would be going so we could decide upon how big a spot we would be needing. I think we would need to get registered very soon. Below are the links for the front and back of the flyer telling about the show.

http://www.floridamoparassociation.c...flyer_back.pdf

I am still wanting to do another track GTG like we did in March. I would like to go to New Smyrna Speedway. I called yesterday to reserve a date, but I didn't hear from them today. There site shows several dates still open, if it's up to date. I would like to do both if we have enough interest in two GTG's in the next two months. I'd like to do the speedway GTG on Sept 29. I'll set them both up or either one. If enough would like to do the Car show in Ocala the 3&4 of Nov, I would think the hotels in the area would be filling up very fast so for all of you outta towners, plans will have to happen fast.

If I get enough responses tonight and tomorrow, I'll take and drive up to Ocala on Monday and see what types of accommodations are around. I'll also stop by to register us while I'm there.

This would give us almost a month till the speedway and then 2 months till the car show. Also, at the speedway, our cars would be on display for the crowd to see and look over. The local Grand Nationals have gone there a couple of times already and the track lets them do burn outs in from of the crowd on the main straight. The took some fast laps also. The cosworth Vega's went earlier this year and they set them up a little autocross course around the track. It's a slightly bigger track than the Orlando Speedway. The vet clubs go there a couple times a year also.

So what's it going to be:

New Smyrna Speedway on Sept 29
Florida Mopar Car show in Ocala on Nov 3rd & 4th
Or should be do both!!!

Did you mean Sept 29 for the track??

Also, i'm not sure if they do this around here but since it looks like we have a fairly decent number of people interested why don't we just rent the track for a whole day or half day? Just a thought...

I'd be up for back to back weekends. We are camping out in the RV for the Garlits show so i'm not worried about where to sleep.

Let us know how you make out with your surveillance of the area.

I've only had once chance at the track with my car and it was only one run so i feel cheated out at this point. If we could get together and be able to run all day and get quite a few runs in i'd be all in for sure!

And i love the Mopars so the show is just a no brainer for me.

The track is a 1/2 mile banked oval and I don't think they rent it out for the day. There are a few tracks around the state that are road courses that are rented out, but with a group of 20-30 you'll be looking at $300-$500 each. I've seen a couple of clubs that have had some open spots for in the $250 a day range, but that's about as cheap as I've seen.

At Orlando Speedway this past march when we went, we went in two groups, Limited's and SRT's. We each got about 5-6 laps at speed. We were all 13 of us on the track for the pace lap and then maybe 2 laps after that following the pace car, but everyone spread out to far and we caught the last cars so the ended those laps early.

Ah I didn't know it was an oval. That would be nice as well. Granted road course is better if possible. I would still be down for those situations. However, is it the 29th of September that we were talking about?

Yes the 29th of Sept is correct for the speedway.
