Hello, I have changed the Crankshaft Sensor as well as the camshaft sensor, all new spark plugs, checked every coil pack with a good one, tested a spare RCM and re-soidered mine (Paul D did the work) Also replaced the fuel filter and checked fuel pressure which was at 52 psi. Can not find any vacuum leaks but cylinders 1 2 3 are not firing. Can unplug all three coil packs on that side and it does not change how it runs. It is smooth as can be at 1,000 rpm and up but will not idle proper. If you rev it up to 2,500 it will hold it for 5 seconds and then drop down to 1,000 and cycle like that as long as you want to hold it there. Anybody have the same situation and now what to try next ??

Either those coil packs are not being triggered by the ECM (in which case you need a new ECM) or the fuel injectors on that side are plugged.

Of course, I don't believe EITHER is the case - I'm not convinced that what you THINK you are seeing is what you are really seeing. BUT, you are there and I am not.

But look at the electrical diagram, what else could it be?

You can always see if there is 12 volts on the injectors' A+ side (same goes for the coil packs).

Now, seeing if the ECM is triggering them is harder, an oscilloscope would be needed as no meter will give you accurate indication of such quick pulses.

Well, I have installed three CPS, still will not start. Checked wiring from connector to the top of wiring harness in large fuse box. Anyone have any good ideas on getting it to run again Also changed Camshaft P S, still no change.

Hope someone in Houston could lend a hand to help me get this on the road.

HELP!!!!!!!

I hope that with all the help you have given you will get a speedy resolution to you problem. But I have to ask what are your symptoms and why have you fixated on the CPS?
Have any codes been set, what you state about changing the CPS does not help us.

New Crossfire owner here. Was looking into obtaining a Crankshaft Position Sensor mostly as a back-up and found these on Amazon. Anyone used these various brands?

No an don't you use anything but a Bosch, either. Others have had a problem, of not fitting the OE connections from the wiring harness leaving them stranded an wondering why there car was dead.

Bosch is my preferred manufacturer for the CPS, but I consider the CPS supplied by Hella a reliable alternative. Anything else I stay away from.

Hi all,

Removed the CPS but it's not the same reference. The one I removed is Mercedes P/N A 003 153 27 28 and Bosch 0 261 210 171 whereas the recommended one (the one I ordered) is 0 261 210 170 (on the left):

My Xfire is coming from Spain (MY2007). Maybe that's the explanation.

BTW, the sensor was very difficult to extract, but I couldn't insert the new one. Too difficult because it seems the hole is too small. Is it OK to add some oil to ease part insertion? Otherwise I can't imagine how to push the sensor into the hole, due to lack of space.

Any help welcomed !

BTw, for those interested, I've taken close-ups using my USB endoscope:

The hole must be some corrosion or burrs in the hole. Run some fine emery paper in the hole and clean it out. Oil may cause a problem so that is not recommended at all. Use the new part you have.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I noticed also there're 3 plastic "flanges" probably to make the sensor stick in the hole, and maybe that's why it's so difficult. Maybe I can use a nail file to loose it a little, at least to ease the insertion in the hole.

But first I'll try to clean up to hole.

Just for those who might face the same problem, here're the tools I used:

Just an advice: put a rag beneath to catch the bolt, just in case and have a magnet around.
It saved my day

Now, I have to check if it solved my issues: erratic idle from 600 to 2200 still or at low speed.

I have another way -

As you unscrew the bolt, hold on to the sensor and pull - pull the sensor out with the bolt still in the mounting hole on the sensor and carefully extract both at the same time.

Worked for me and I did it all with a ratchet, extension and socket.
