Lightbulb "Slasher" stripes for sale!

I spoke to my buddy about selling the vinyl "slasher" or Chevron stripes that I now I have on the Crossfire. He said $20.00 for (5) stripes (incase you make a mistake). Now if you don't make a mistake you could sell or barter with them here on the forum, that's up to you but I feel the price is more than fair. Now to keep it simple, I'd like to stick with the silver I have, black, med gray and if your serious and trust me, I can see if he's got something that will match the Cedar pretty close. Keep in mind that I'm very "particular" on the color matching and if I don't think it'll look good, I WILL NOT SUGGEST IT. I feel that charging an extra $10.00 for shipping is fair as I'd have to drive down to his shop and pick them up and its about a $40.00 mile round trip, but to help out another member, I don't mind one bit. If you have any questions feel free to post here or even PM me, thanks!

$10 to ship 5 strips of vinyl? wow, with that kind of profit i should be taking at least a 10 or 20% royalty for this deal --

I thought $10.00 was fair to cover the S/H and my driving 40 miles round trip to pick them, not to mention my time.

~ i agree... you have to put a price on your time... the hard part is getting others to pay you for it. been there done that.

Default Stripes on the Cheap

If your looking to do some racing type side stripes on the cheap there is a company called monokote that makes sheet adhesive backed trim product called "Top Flite Trim MonoKote" for model airplanes/cars/boats that is water and fuel (r/c fuel I guess) proof. They also make a remover for the adhesive I believe but most goo-gone type products should work.

It comes in about 30 colors/patterns. I picked up some yesterday at a local R/C shop for $2.89 for a 5" x 36" sheet. The color is called "aluminum" and is a metal flake look that matches the silver trim on the Crossfire pretty close. Its a really thin film so once its on it looks like paint. With it being so thin I don't know how well it will stand up to grit/sand/dirt hitting it at 60 mph but since its so cheap and comes off, it should be good to play with.

You can also purchase it online:

Here is a list of colors:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...P?&C=QAE&V=TOP

Most hobby shops that carry r/c airplane stuff should carry it. Also the "chrome" and "gold chrome" colors are a mirror type material, not the solid color that is shown in the link.

Enjoy!

Aallman,
Monokote Trim is an interesting thought, I use Monokote for my RC planes, just never thought of using it for an actual car. It super thin, and extremely tough stuff. That's not to say that if a rock pings your car, that it may not be torn. Just make sure you really clean the area where it will be applied. Since is soooooo thin, any little bump will show. Get a good wide burnisher, and make sure to start at one end and work evenly toward the other end...do this in the shad not in sunlight. otherwise you'll get bubbles (you can use a pin to pop bubbles if you do get them). Take some pics and let us see your masterpiece.

Here's some pics of the Monokote Trim on my Xfire. 2" stripes with a 2" gap in between. Pretty cool for $2.89 and I can remove them without much effort.

Andrew, sorry I missed this post earlier. I've been building and flying for a long time, but they moved our flying field about 9 years ago (suburban sprawl) and I kinda stopped. I'm thinking about getting back into sail planes again, with all the heat, there's plenty of thermals and the DC Soaring club has agreements with some local farmers to fly on their property, which are much closer to home.

Maybe this winter I'll get back into it. You still building/flying?

i am a big arf guy... i purchase the arfs, engine, servos, etc... and send them to michigan. i have a guy who assembles...installs equipment...engine... and balances the plane... i truly want a ready to fly plane... no labor here. some enjoy building... i like flying.

i have an... extra (4 stroke), cap, sea plane and supersports... all in 60 size.

i also have an cheapie electric foam jobbie i fly up & down the street in my neighborhood... does about 50 mph down wind. flew it tonight.

i have just ordered a faster "street flyer" it does 80+ mph... see link...

Guys a couple of UK RC sites which I put together for my father.
He runs a couple of clubs here in the uk:
http://www.amarc2002.co.uk
http://www.avonindoor.co.uk

edit: looks like the site are a bit slow at the moment (typical) but its worth looking at if your in to aero RC.
Mind you they are on US host so might be ok for you guys.
