Question 18s on the rear?

Hey,
Has anyone put 18s on their rear axle? The dealer says it can't be done with the aftermarket rims I have. The owner's manual says you can put them on the rear in the winter.
My mechanic wants to cut the studs because he says they are too long and I also would need different bolts.
Anybody put 18's on the rear.
I need some input.

some members are indeed using 18's on the rear... this can be done.

if your existing lugbolts are too long they will rub/interfere with e-brake mechanism when the car is moving. if this is the case... the bolts may need to be shortened.

Are you talking about 18" rims ? If so, you can definitely put them on... I run 18x10.5" rear rims with a 10mm spacer.

depends on the diameter and tire size.

Same diameter as stock. Is it possible to go as wide as the rear?

The problem on the front is the upper A frame bolt. You'll have to test the clearance with the tire mounted. You can put spacers on the front, but I do not recommend it if you are going to do any HARD driving (track stuff).

I think 18's all the way around would look stellar. Staggered wheel width is very common practice with BMW, Porsche, MB.
