In your case, you might need a new RCM:

So was it the solder joints or the actual relays?

Been having thsi intermittant since spring. No affect to drivability. Comes and goes. Takes about 8 ignition cycles for the check engine light before it will go off again. then a week or two it's on again. Seems to come on to me at or shortly after starting cold. Verified the 410 code this evening borrowing a friends obd handheld. Pulled the relay module after reading all the thread, touched up the solder joints. Relay contacts looked good. We'll see what happens. Thanks to everybody who has gone before!!!!

Thought I would use this existing thread rather than start a new one . . .

My CEL came on last night. Engine seems to be running fine. I've decided to buy an OBD fault code scanner but I don't know anything about them. Any suggestions on which brand and model to buy?

This has been popular and it has many other uses, probably the cheapest. I plugged it in once and then forgot I even had it.
UltraGauge EM v1.2 [UltraGauge_EM_v1.2] - $69.95 : UltraGauge, OBD II Scan Tool & Information Center

I use an Innova 3100 scanner and it works fine. The better they are, more bells and whistles, the more costly they become.

I remember having that problem on my Crossie on last summer, but light went off after clearing fault codes with OBD reader. AND NOW IT'S ON AGAIN!

Manual said that reason for light coming on could be low quality fuel or gas tanks cap... yeah right!?...

Is the RCM located next to car battery and do I have to find RCM directly for 05' model or do all models use same RCM?

Do not panic and buy a RCM, not yet anyway, read this thread and see the possible causes of the light on condition.
You can inspect the RCM to see if the relay for the pump has burnt contacts on welded contacts.
Do you hear the air pump work? That is the first question to answer.

The RCM is in the box by the battery, it is the module with the fuses on it. The forty amp fuse is for the air pump.

See this thread as well.

HI Did that work. Did you find out why the intermittant P0410 code? My 2004 does just what yours was doing. Thank You Phil

So it is the relay in the RCM Thank You Now I have a non working high beam I know it is the switch I found a Mercedes 1705450304 at Ecs tuning for $280 but I think I'll wait to fix that. Been a while since I had a steering wheel off a car. Do you need a special tool to remove and install the steering wheel. I remember you have to disconnect the battery and remove fuse and wait 30 minutes. To be on the safe side. Thank You Phil
