Default Turbo Kit... In Process

Well Hello To All... I Just Came From Talking To My Mechanical (tuner) And He Offered Me A Turbo Kit...in My Mind I Thought That He Was Kind Of Crazy There Aren't Turbo Kits For Our X-fire... But After Some Chatting He Said That He Will Design All The Kit... Of Course He's Going To Get The Turbo (garret Ball Bearing) And Make Intercooler (by Himself). He Is An Excellent Mechanic... He Used To Works At "escuderia Mundial" This Is Were All Exotic Cars In Mexico Have Their Engine Service And Other Things...I Have No Doubt Of Him But The Problem Is That He Charging A Lot For Doing This... $4,300 Dollars Wow ... What Do You Think?... I'm Trying To Get The Money Right Now But Is A Lot. Hahaha. Well If A Put The Turbo On My X-fire I'll Let You Know... Ah I Just Forgot To Tell That He's Estimated Time Is 2 Months ... A Lot Of Time Don't You Think? ... Can Some One Have An Opinion About These?

Turbo (ball Bearing)
Intercooler (special)
Pipe Line And All
Ecu Modification

Total = $4,300

Its doable, no doubt about that. I've had 3 aftermarket turbo/superchargers and there's not that much to them from a hardware perspective. If anyone ever watched those import tuning shows on Speed where tuners build kits from scratch; its just takes good fabricators. The big deal is and always will be fuel/timing control via the ecu. If that can be done correctly the rest is just grunt work.

Actually the fuel timing adjustments are the easiest part of the whole build process, the tuning can be done sitting in the car without turning wrenches and busting knuckles. There is no need for a dyno to get the system to run good.

If you have the time to build the headers and mount everything it's easy. Experienced car guy could do it in a month. The next step after getting the whole system up and running is building a turbo manifold for the intake this will give better performance along the mid range and possibly clean up any hesitation it the turbine spool up.
This stuff is all easy to talk about, but unless you have the proper tools and welding skills it might take you a bit longer.

Tuning is THE most important part of a turbo set up... to run a high compression motor reliably under boost, you need accurate fueling and timing adjustments. This can be done without a dyno, yes, but it's important to have a means of tuning with good capabilities... this means no safc's to coarsely adjust fueling, etc. You really need something with full control over the fueling and timing maps... not an easy, or necessarily readably available, thing.

dynos aren't hard to come by... a good, fully tunable ems that will work well is.

what are you using for an ems?

Actually, $4,300 is pretty cheap for a kit for this car! The next cheapest one is in the neighbothood of $8,000. Maybe I need to renew my passport ant take a little trip south of the border!

Let us know how it works out...

Use your passport to go down. When u come back, test the car and see if you can speed past customs and get away with it...LOL.

I'll put $4,300 for a turbo kit for this car in a heartbeat...as long as it doesn't blow my motor.
