Light Weight Battery
First off - I wasn't 100% sure where to put this thread - so here it is... ta da!!!
If some of you are REALLY hell bent on reducing weight - and I mean REALLY hell bent, check out this website...

If I needed to crank my engine THAT long I think I'd best take the extra $700 I would spend on one of these batteries and spend it on the problem
I compared several of these batteries to the sealed lead acid batteries on the Interstate website:
For the same A-H
assuming the sealed lead acid batteries crank well (they always have)
these batteries are the same size.
Their advantage is they are half the weight of the sealed lead acid batteries Interstate offers.

Uh, Lithium ion battery would be very dangerous to keep under your hood. They are extremely flammable when damaged, so if you get into an accident this is not something you want near a fuel rail and fuel lines.
They can make them a lot smaller.
They can also make them the same size just by filling the existing/old housing with foam.
Relocate the battery to the trunk - that problem is solved - now we just need it cheaper.

God forbid you accidentally overcharge the lithium battery, because they burn at 2,500 - 3,000 deg F.

Do you really want this in your trunk?

We use lithium batteries for the Panavision cameras on feature films... We have to ship them "SPECIAL" when flying out of the country...
I've seen these things go KABOOM before...
On a serious note... You can use a dry cell battery to reduce weight, but they're not as robust... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/applications/auto.htm This is what I have mine... located in the rear pass area...
