Those headlite bulbs are a pain, eh?

Get this: the passenger side light did not look right at night. After reading a few of these threads, after first thinking that it was just an alignment problem, I took the rubber cap off. The bulb then fell out. It was never clipped in place. In fact, the clip was gone.

So, I got a worklight and searched around at the bottom of the radiator header/fender apron and I found the clip! How lucky is that?

It took me a while to get the clip back in, and reinstall the bulb. A small mirror was invaluable.

But I'd like to know what a-hole mechanic dropped the clip after knocking it out, let it get lost, and then just lay the bulb in the socket and put the rubber cap on to keep it in. What a jerk!

Anyway, after fixing it and getting the headlite assemblies lined up against the wall, I now see this problem: when driving at night, the patterns of the 2 headlites are visibly different, and I cannot even see any extra light from one side when the hibeams are on.

After researching all of the bulbs available, it seems to me that it is wise to use the same bulbs on both sides to avoid this problem.

So, tomorrow, I'll be taking all 4 bulbs out to match them up and go to the store to make 2 matching pairs if I can.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!
You will soon find out that there are Chrysler techs who want to work on Crossfires, Chrysler techs who are told to work on Crossfire and then there are "Chrysler Crossfire Certified Techs" who are the only ones qualified to work on Crossfires.

All 4 headlights, 2 dim 2 bright, use H7 bulbs. The last person to work on your car must have dropped it ( the clip) and didn't care. When I got my car the passenger headlights were not aimed together like they should have been, I think that it had been in a small fender bender because I now have the SRT-6 nose and it is not a SRT-6. I bought a used assembly on on Ebay and replaced the old one and it is fine now. Once you get the hang of it the bulbs arn't really that hard to replace. The headlights if working properly and aimed right are one of best for night driving I've ever had. I don't think satan designed the headlights ar anything else on the car but I think the guy that did design some things knew him How about that cupholder and that secondary air injection system!

Thanks for the support....

I replaced all 4 bulbs yesterday in 100 degree heat. Good thing I'm not too old!

Last night I aimed them and then went out for a ride, the difference was huge. On hi-beam, it's like the sun came out and even on low beam the patterns are matched and correct.

The info on this site has proven invaluable to me already, and I thank you!

Hello, I have a 2006 Crossfire. Got it 3 weeks ago. When i first drove it at night I did not have any low beams at all, the high beam and all other are fine.
Any suggestions,
Thanks
Don

I'm having difficulty imagining how you twisted the **** back all the way in the first place. When I adjusted my headlamps, I parked the car a ways back in the driveway, and flipped the lights on so you could see the level on the garage door. After that it was as easy as just turning the **** to get to where I wanted. That just seemed like the logical thing to do. I can't understand how you twisted it without noticing the light dropping.

Odd problem indeed, though. Glad you were able to fix it without any ha$$le.
