I am very tempted by this kit since I wouldn't have to worry about labor. 288 HP wasn't quite as much as I was hoping for but some of you seem to think this would make for a very nice car. One thing they did tell me on the phone was that because of the design, an intercooler is not possible which limits boost and HP. Another option I am considering is using a Rotrex super charger mounted to the front of the engine on the upper passenger side. Relocating the header tank would give gobs of room. Mounting the supercharger here would allow for an intercooler and hopefully better performance. I am working on a budget to do this myself and will weigh it against this kit.
Spent only about 30 minutes researching and found some supercharger model #'s and info for you to review. These were all shown to be able to work with this engine by M/B and I have their model # info and did some cross referencing to the aftermarket counterparts.

I will begin the heavy data-mining this week and will begin making the database for our records. I will try and find any data about our cars and then put the data through a verification process and then input into the database.

Well, I'm totally interested. My xfire is in need of more power... it'd be nice to have it be as fast as it looks. So has anyone taken the plunge yet and ordered a kit? I'm in south florida, and I'm a go but I guess I want to wait until someone gets one sorted... not feeling like being the lab monkey on this one! Thanks for finding this ! I was already eyeing the new BMW 1 series!

Hi Guys:

I purchased a black base crossfire 2005, I want to add some horsepower and I saw the supercharger, my question is... Have anybody purchase this kit? Is it good? How much horsepower added? And by any chance has anybody installed a V8 on their X-fire? I would love to hear your thoughts... Thanks.

I found what I believe is a better kit by Mossellman. They have a kit that uses the Vortech Supercharger for $4,500 which was designed for the SLK320 so it should fit our car. They are replacing this kit around the 1st of the year with a roots style S/C for about the same price. I would wait for that kit since it will have a lot more torque. A roots style S/C will make the car feel like it has a V8 with very linear power which will feel much smoother than a turbo or Vortech. For me I have decided to put a Mercedes V8 in the car. I have found an engine and if everything works out I should have the engine in my garage by the end of the month.

Well i emailed these guys and they were very quick to reply. The kit can be installed in a weekend if your kind of mechanically inclined the cost is about $6,200 US and the out put will be 288 HP they sent me a dyno slip and the instruction manual for the kit.The ecu needs to be upgraded and it is included in the kit i think im waiting for clarification on this i was told it was a piggy back system.
I will try and post the pdf files if someone could do it for me please PM me and i will send the files. The Kit that is on there web page has been changed from the SK plus to the SKI kit.

the latest is....you can build your own from vortec parts bin for just under $3000. the ecu will self adjust to 5-6 psi, so no need for a ecu, unless you want to get it programed by TVT or Inmotion just to fatten up the AFR or pull out some timing. Timing can be advanced or retarded via a Split Second piggy back computer, if you desire custom dyno tuning. but just bolting up the vortec and making brackets shouldn't cost you more than $2500, but I would upgrade to larger injectors that can handle at least 320hp

Sorry i'm kinda an idiot, so my ecu will be ok for a vortec kit, all i have to do is throw it on, and expect what kinda gains?

yes, bolt on a new or used vortec, install rising rate FMU, colder plugs, and set boost for 5-6 psi, and install larger injectors, expect about 280-290hp, maybe more if you can get TVT or inmotion to do a custom tune. I posted the DIY thread on the forum via MBworld. do a search for vortec install.

the guy at inmotion is a bit of a pain, because he won't provide us with the software technology to do V8 installs even though he has the ability too which sucks for us, he's really not interessted in doing low boost tunes, because he feels it's awaste of time, he's more interested in selling Nitrous tunes to the NA guys, but I'm sure he'll do what ever you want him to do for the right amount of $$$

split second ecu is about $350 and allows you to retard and advance timing much cheaper if your doing dyno tuning

after that you'll have to install a set of shricks AMG/srt6 camsfor more power. also an oil cooler would be smart since the oil sprayers are shooting hot oil on the back of the pistons.
